Cat Food Dip

I’ve sampled a few brands of dog kibble and they’re pretty bland-tasting. FWIW, Natural Balance’s “Duck & Potato” variety smells mouth-wateringly scrumptious.

Concerning canned cat-food-cum-canapés, I think a beef-liver or seafood flavor made by a company that uses (human) food-grade ingredients would be a good bet. However, if I were doing this, I’d make a standard paté/dip and a cat-food one, serving them side-by-side in a blind taste test.

“Bone” appétit!

The father of a friend of mine once made hors d’oeuvres for a party from triscuits and cat food (without telling his pet loving wife, a cat breeder).

The guests ate them with no comment and he told his wife the next day.

I’m glad I’m not your roommate.

I feed my cats Wellness, too, and it says on the can, “Made with human-grade ingredients”. We consider it the Soylent Green of pet foods.

Cat food’s not so bad, just needs salt. Soooo tasteless

The topic has been explored in detail in an excellent Louis de Bernieres short story ‘Labels’. Its focussed more about his obsession as a collector with a love of labels from cat food tins. But then what do you do with all those naked cans and an expensive habit?

 Nice! Although now I’ll be wondering when my cat eyes me up next time - is she looking for her next meal?
