I’ve sampled a few brands of dog kibble and they’re pretty bland-tasting. FWIW, Natural Balance’s “Duck & Potato” variety smells mouth-wateringly scrumptious.
Concerning canned cat-food-cum-canapés, I think a beef-liver or seafood flavor made by a company that uses (human) food-grade ingredients would be a good bet. However, if I were doing this, I’d make a standard paté/dip and a cat-food one, serving them side-by-side in a blind taste test.
The topic has been explored in detail in an excellent Louis de Bernieres short story ‘Labels’. Its focussed more about his obsession as a collector with a love of labels from cat food tins. But then what do you do with all those naked cans and an expensive habit?
