How about bacon?
Good morning all. I like the pic in the OP.
Lissa, congratulations!
More later when I get more coffee in me.
'Bout time you came back… :dubious:
Look Minddude and Nava don’t go givin’ him ideas. Heck, it ain’t like he ever reads any of this stuff anyway. Besides he’s already told me he’s gonna “get my birthday present big time tonight.” I think he was talkin’ durty to me but I’m not real sure bein’ as I’m so sweet and innocent and naive and all. See, we don’t buy presents for each other for birthdays, Christmas, and all that there stuff. Our thing is to take trips or do stuff with each other all year long. Those are our presents. Though on one’s birthday one is entitled to a “present” of his choosing. Let yer pervy minds ponder that!
… I don’t get it. I must be missing whatever it’s referring to. Chew on this one:
I promise I’ll be a better MMPer this week. Oddly enough, my soon-to-increase workload should help in that regard. I always work and manage my time better under stress. And stress I will have, as this week I get to start TAing the Intro Physics II class for non-physics majors. Which means some of them are pre-med students who will come after me for every half-point in search of the A they believe themselves entitled to. Whether they actually deserve it or not is a judgement I and the professor will have to make.
Which reminds me - the class I’m TAing has some rather fortuitous circumstances. The professor is one that I had last term, so we get along great and I already know and like his teaching style. Also, the subject of Intro Physics II aligns with the courses I’m taking - electromagnetic theory and quantum physics, although I’m of course taking it at a graduate level.
Finally, there’s an odd matchup with my courses from last term. Check out these list of similarities:
Same rooms.
Same gender of professor in each room.
Last term a female prof taught me Classical Mechanics. This term, a female prof is teaching me Quantum Mechanics.
Last term a male prof taught me Mathematical Methods. This term, a male prof is teaching me Electrodynamics. Doesn’t sound like much, but the content of the two courses is very similar, since electromagnetic theory uses all those nifty mathematical methods I learned about last term.
Weird, yeah? Welcome to my life. Nava, I think the line you’re looking for is “I love it when a plan comes together.” I live by that line.
LiLi, the continuing saga of your acronymed friends never ceases to amuse me. I’m sending some preliminary congratulations in the general direction of DH and QD. After the marriage, can we refer to them as QDH?
Off to work. Ciao! scooter
I know, I’ve been bad.
Good morning, everyone!
I am about to jump in the shower and go hijack my best friend who is down here for the weekend. She’s famous for waiting until the last minute and then not having time to visit with me, because I’ll “understand.” I plan to present myself on her doorstep at around nine and take her and her son to the beach! Ha!
I just noticed in another thread that you’re now in the land of chocolates and high cost restaurants. Where are you living? We lived in Carouge, outside of Geneva, for a short while, and we had to take my son to the emergency room a day or two after moving there. Unfortunately we had no idea how to find one. Fortunately it turned out not to be a big deal, although he still has a small scar you can see on the top of his head.
The adjuster called VWife just now, in preparation for coming by to see our [del]mess[/del]refrigerator/freezer. He confirmed that we have a $500 deductible; he doesn’t need to see it where it sits, so we’re free to dispose of the junk as we’re able; the food and fridge are assumed to be total losses (we just got back from the store, so the food is probably worth more than the fridge anyway); and they cover cleaning and painting the wall and ceiling.
Come April, we’re going to redo the kitchen and probably would have replaced the stooooopid thing in the process. Too bad our deductible means we’ll get maybe $10 for a settlement… Since most of the food was sealed up, we managed to save most of it for the price of a bottle of 409 and a box of paper shop rags.
VBob Um, you had a fire? Was it off of that breaker that tripped on us (or was that the washer?)
HAPPPY BURFDAY ACBG!!
li-li, tell qd we’re all sooooooo happy for her and dh!
nava, have you been tested for Benign Paroxysmal Positioning Vertigo? It’s what I have and it bites!
spats, ever heard of the One-and-a-Half Acre Pot Bellied Pig Sanctuary up your way? It’s run by one of my former SILs. She’s one of the human ones.
Yesterday Mr. Anachi and I [del]got sucked in[/del] attended the "starving artists sale at a local Hilton. There was a line when we got there 15 minutes before start time (11:00). It was like a Macy’s 75% off sale when the doors finally opened! We bought three earl paintins and frames to go with for the Master bedroom. We is all cultured naow. One of the bigger ones is of Cupid. I want to hang it over the headboard. Mr. Anachi is all :dubious:  :smack: about that.
My dad was not in a good mood yesterday or today. He’s downright angry. See, he can’t swallow liquids unless they are thickened or he chokes on them. He really really wants water but doesn’t like it thickened. I tried some cold bottled water with a little sugar today but he wasn’t having anything of it.
This is very hard. The relentlessness of it day to day wears on the spirit something fierce.
I should get some work done. They do pay me for that afterall.
Tupug
Something decided to let the smoke out of the icemaker in my refrigerator Saturday. What a mess.
I’ll post a link to the original as soon as I find it.
Linky for Sean…
{{{Puggy}}} I wish there was something I could say to make it easier but there just isn’t. Just know we love ya and will listen (read?) if you want to post about it.
Before I forget, a picture from the Prom. My boobs are front and center in the blue dress, with my head slightly above them. Roomie is in the green dress next to me, please ignore the lighter in her cleavage.
And for my next trick … Guess who got laid off this morning?
That’s right. So now, I am off to unclog the bathtub drain, then maybe take a nap and finish the jigsaw puzzle I was working on. I’ll worry about a new job tomorrow.
You look so pretty, Draelin! Boobs, too, although it probably isn’t really appropriate for me to look at them. However, you did point them out. Love the hair.
Also, I swear I thought you said you got laid the next morning. So I was ready to cheer. But laid off is not cheering material, it’s  material. So -
I haven’t told QD yet that not only was everyone at work waiting for DH to propose, there are many wonderful faceless internet people also breathlessly waiting for the next installment. She’ll be so mad! I’ll get chased around the room.
Of course, given that our anniversary present from her and DH was The Joy of Sex and The New Age Baby Name Book, I think the chasing should go the other way. Thanks a lot, guys. That’s even better than the strawberry-flavoured condoms a few years ago. With a very chesty blonde transexual with heavy makeup on the box.
Warning!: rambly.
I was thinking about how sad I am for my BIL and SIL when I was at the laundromat. She doesn’t cook, eats out all the time, has gained at least 30lbs since the last time I saw her (when she was eight months pregnant), and has practically no social skills. I really don’t think she’s had significant interaction with anyone outside of her large family.
She doesn’t know to say thank you, or offer to help, or ask about other people. She doesn’t listen- you know the expression people get when they’re just waiting for you to finish your sentence so they can tell you the next fascinating anecdote about themselves? All conversations are like that.
Being who I am, their food situation worries me. It hadn’t occured to her that she could make baby food, instead of paying a whole lot for it, especially since BIL isn’t working. They got a high-powered blender for Christmas. I would (and will) gladly send them recipes. It’s not hard to steam some squash and then liguefy it in the blender. She eats at McDonalds ever day, and has started feeding the baby french fries.
It’s almost enough to make me move to Napanee and cook for them. They’re just so helpless. They can’t budget, have no sense of economy, and her family are always interfering. BIL and SIL seem to have almost no time together, with their son, alone.
I was angry and sad yesterday, and now I’m just sad. I know it’s not the world’s most terrible situation, but it’s a bad way to start out a marriage, and I (snobbishly and evilly) despise her family, who have been appallingly rude. Mostly I don’t think they have any space or autonomy, and they need those. My BIL certainly needs those.
Now I’m thoroughly depressed.
I’ve heard of black ice on the road during winter, but this is just ridiculous.
MMMMM… charbroiled ice!
Drae the pic is f-aaaaaa-bu-lous! Do tell roomie the lighter in the cleavage is tres chic. Festive too with it being green and all. Sorry about the layoff but I know you didn’t particularly like the place, or so it seemed. You’ll be able to get UI, right? Plus, you’ll find a job soon cause who wouldn’t want Drae workin’ for 'em! I mean it is you after all.
The who now? Can’t say I have. Is that the actual name?
Ouch, Drae. Rotten luck. Hope you find a better job than this one.
