Cat on a Keyboard-A nonhijacked MMP

I see - you’re trying to show up the rest of us. Some friend you are… :stuck_out_tongue:

You could always talk about your 4th grade spelling bee…

I managed to mostly sleep in till 7:15, which is an extra two and a half hours more than a normal morning here. I say mostly because Brandy came in during the wee hours and wanted under the covers. I finally persuaded her to snuggle on top of the comforter between the two of us, and we both slept again.

Bernie has been walked and fed, **FCD ** is still sleeping, and I’m enjoying some quiet and semi-solitude before he wakes up. He plans to finish the plumbing to the basement bathroom sink and when he’s done, I’ve got a bunch of dirty clothes that need to be clean. That should take care of today.

Despite the weather forecast, there’s no rain out there at least at the moment. But on weather radar, there’s a big hunk of green moving our way, so it won’t be too long. We should probably do any errands we have this morning. Assuming *someone * gets up this morning…

Hugs, smoochies, and good day to you all.

Well, since the paper is finished and Uncle Swampy said I could go out, that’s just what we did. We went to see “Pan’s Labyrinth” at the local arthouse cinema in Wolves, then afterwards we wandered up through the early part of the night’s drunkards, domestics and general detritus…to the pub.

A good night for us, that’s for sure - no fights for a change! No, it’s not us fighting, but somehow we seem to attract them. Last time we went to the Posada, we were having a quiet drink when some bloke came in and attacked another guy standing at the bar - in fact a few of his friends came in and gave the poor bloke a real leathering. Never found out what that was all about, but the Posada is certainly the place to go if you want to see life!

Anyway, small amounts of beerverages were consumed (Spitfire and Bombardier) before we left about 1am. Now it’s almost 1pm and I’m not long out of bed. Who mentioned the sloth? I am the sloth!

Rosie - yes Shadow does have a tinge of red in his fur, you can see it quite clearly when the light shines on him although the rest of the time he just looks black.

I always understood it to be a tad more, um, intrusive - along the lines of jabbing one’s thumb at another’s (clothed) butt, to imitate a goose’s supposed practice of poking its bill in someone’s business to hurry them along. But I grew up in the suburbs, so what do I know. I suppose I could look it up, and now I shall…

<pause>

From dictionary.com: 9. Slang. to poke (a person) between the buttocks to startle.

MMP - we learn ya all the good stuff…

Good morning. I’m up and caffenating. The dog has stolen the pillow. If she ever decides to get up, I’ll take her out.

kai, glad you got unvacuated.

kai I’m glad everything seems to be ok. Wow!

I’m up and caffienating. Breakfast is being made for me this morning. Scrambled aigs, grits and toast. No bacon. The boy can’t cook bacon for nuttin’ and I don’t wanna.

Tis a beautiful mornin’ here in south Jawja. I hear the sounds of breakfast being readied. BBL Y’all!

I think swampy was the sloth BooFae; funny, I thought he was the bear. (Heee, crackin’ mmyself up already…)

doggio, Mirror World is very weird. (P.S. If you’re not sure what we’re talking about, Read this real world announcement from over in ATMB..

OK…I had several weird dreams that I can’t remember any more other than one included something about raisins and grapes and vaguely had something to do with a salad that I make that includes both. The one thing I do remember is that I specifically thought “I need to remember this so that I can tell the MMP.” So much for that.

I’m up and deciding whether to go visit brother and his kids today. Since I have a 3-day weekend, it won’t keep me from getting stuff done here. Also, I just checked my calendar and I have stuff going on the next several weekends, so I guess I’ll go. Also, I feel pretty decent this morning and slept well, except for the weird dreams.

So I guess I should get ready to get on the road…

I got an e-mail this morning starting the discussion/planning of Mr. SCL’s 50th birthday party, which will be this March.

Speaking of Mr. SCL - he tried to feed me frog legs at a seafood buffet we went to for dinner last night. Told me they were chicken, so I put a couple on my plate. When I picked one up at the table I realized what they were. They were deboned so I didn’t realize at first. I ewwwwwwwwwwed and immediately put them on his plate. He liked them. I ain’t eatin no frog!

I’m caffinating, trying to get ready to go sling cat food. I hope all the homeless fuzzbutts out there appreciate the pain I am about to endure for them. As if cats ever appreciate anything.

Later. If I can sit up to type.

kai, I’m glad things are all right.

rosie, I got ignored, too. A posie for rosie, I can’t think of anything that rhymes with dogbutler, or with Lili. Drat. Oh, well.

gt, it’s a Nigel Slater recipe. You dice several potatoes, an onion, and three or so zuchinni, and saute them with a lot of rosemary until they’re almost done. Add about half a cup of broth, dump the mess into a casserole. Grind up two cups of bread, some more rosemary, and a large pice of sharp cheese (maybe a little less than a cup?) together in the food processor. Add half a cup of walnuts. Put the topping on, and bake until it’s crusty and the cheese is all melty. I generally leave it for forty minutes.

I generally use cheddar, but you could do nice parmesan. Something sharp, not mozzarella or brie. It’s very tasty, and reheats well (a necessary component of my recipes).

Last night I made a sort of beef ragu with spiral pasta, and we had a salad with caesar dressing and some of the feta. It was quite nice. I made brown sugar lightning cake topped with some mixed berries and whipped cream for dessert. I think I’m still full.

How was Pan’s Labyrinth, BooFae? I want to see it. We’re going to Children of Men tonight.

OK, I don’t get it. **FCD ** has been working to get some of their excessed computers donated to his brother’s high school for a computer lab. He’s talked to all the necessary folks and laid all the groundwork, but he can’t get the principal of the school to respond to his emails or phonecalls! Granted, they’re not state of the art machines, but Pentium II and III work just fine for probably any application they could use at the school. He’s called his brother, who teaches there, at least twice trying to make this happen before the computers are all shipped off to salvage.

I don’t get it. If someone was trying to do something really nice for me at no cost but a couple of phone calls, I’d be all over it. <shrug> Maybe it’s the one public school in the country that has enough money to do everything they want to do…

Happy Saturday everyone. Today is the big day. In fact, there’s only about six hours left until she and I head off to watch Dreamgirls and eat Thai food. I’m nervous. Fortunately someone told me about this thing called “breathing” and it helps. I just need to relax - we’ll have a great time.

TiVo for Rebo.

Thanks LiLi; that sounds very yummy. Reheats well is a requirement for me too.

Off to visit little brother & kids.

Back tonight…

Morning, all. I’m sitting here drinking coffee while Palebunny and Papa Tigs unload her stuff into the storage unit she just rented. I like this division of labor.

That big hunk of green moving our way on the radar was apparently preceded by a front that blew through at almost exactly midnight last night; that’s when Rusty started getting all nervous and upset. He’s the best weathervane in the entire world, I swear. Since Papa Tigs and Palebunny were already in bed snoring and I was headed that way myself, rather than stay up a couple hours trying to calm him down, I just gave him one of his knockout pills. He settled right down and everyone slept well. Although you can tell he had the pill last night because he still can’t quite open his inner eyelids all the way, so he looks half-snozzled. Which presumably is also how he’s feeling, so it’s appropriate!

Palebunny’s computer is set up although not hooked into the server yet, but that should happen later today so she’ll be back online. What is important, after all?

Off to my day in da woods. I’m sure there will be tales to tell from this…

Don’t get lost!

<snicker>

And we’re back from venturing forth to Lowe’s and WalMart, the latter of which was worse than usual. Construction is underway to convert it into a SuperWalMart, and I guess it’s getting close to the point where they have to start moving things to accommodate the modifications. So the entire health and beauty section was moved away from the pharmacy and into the main aisle. We needed doggy and kitty food, which are off the main aisle, so we had to contend with the crowded mess and the Obliviots blocking the way. But we got home without bloodshed, so that’s good.

And I now have a working light in my microwave - yay! It burned out ages ago and I kept forgetting to take it with me to get a new one. Today I remembered. I also got a couple of night lights for the bathrooms. So that’s good too.

And as soon as Adventures in Plumbing is done downstairs, I can start washing clothes. I think I’ll go play with glaze so I can load the kiln tonight. Ta!!

Remember, wait at least an hour after being lost before you eat your fellow students.

The day of sloth got slightly derailed by an invite to lunch at the Hong Kong Cafe which is the really good Chinese place ‘round here. We couldn’t turn that down, now could we? Anyways, we’re back and slothin’ again.

We got two good <snerkable> fortunes out of it to boot.

Mine:

At this moment someone is thinking good thoughts of you.

ACBG’s:

You will receive a surprise from an unexpected source.

<snerk> away!

I love putting “in bed” after fortune cookie wisdom. It makes it so much more profound.

Argh, I have twenty million things to do today and am still in my pjs. Thesis propsal draft, readings for class, house cleaning… I guess I can make my brother clean the house. I’ll have to do the first two myself, I suppose.

Ohh, and today a bunch of us are going to a “Once More, With Feeling” singalong! So psyched!!

I suppose I ought to pop in here more than once a day to bitch about being tired…

I slept well at least - had to get up early and help stuff 5000 envelopes for a fund-raiser dinner in March. Stopped at Meijer on the way home to load up on cat litter, and paper products, now I just sit around for 30 odd minutes until the spring training tickets go on sale on-line for the White Sox tickets. I appeased the ladies of the house and got us tickets to a game up in Mesa to see the whatstheirnames…cubbies.

The Sox/Cubs game in Tucson is the day before we head back home, that’s the one I want to be online waiting for at 1PM CST, since I think that’ll go fast.

Once I get tickets bought, I’m off to the gym to get all buff.

Later tonight dinner with the Wife and some friends, then home to rest for the long, cold day watching football tomorrow.

Brrr…

It was very good, although rather bloody in places so not one to watch if you don’t much like squick. I thought the whole mix of fairy tale and civil war worked very well and would definitely recommend it as highly watchable.

I never got to see Children of Men when it had a run at the cinema here so that’s another one for the DVD rental list!

Right…off to have a bath and contemplate what to cook for dinner tonight before we spend the evening vegged out on the sofa with movies and wine.
