Cat origami

How do you make this origami cat?

I’ve seen it on a few websites, but not with step-by-step instructions. Can anyone help?

For a sec, I thought this was going to be about bonsai kitty.

I’d use the diagram showing the folds, and try to identify the folds in order, with ones that run from edge-to-edge of the square being the first.

I tried, but I’m not smart enough for that.

I have sent an email to my origami expert friend. If he comes back with anything, I will revisit this thread - otherwise, assume I got no joy…

And am I the only one who thought this thread was going to be a humorous spoof on cat-folding?

Is it a Robert Lang design? If so, he uses a computer program called TreeMaker that figures out the folds but not the order of them. TreeMaker article: TreeMaker

Also, use a fine Japanese handmade paper, like kozo or gampi (better known as rice paper in the US). The longer fibers in these papers hold up better to multiple folds and are less likely to tear. The “softer” look of the folds of the cat make me think it is wet-folded (dry folds are much sharper, think regular origami). Well, I am here to post, but the message is no joy:
