Cat people: what's your favorite litter?

I swear I read the thread title as “your favorite Hitler”. And was going to post this:

I’m intrigued, how is the odor control [n]Bo**?

Any brand of unscented clumping clay type litter. My cat is pretty good about using his box, even when I get a bit lax about cleaning it. I’ve tried other types, but this seems to be what he prefers, and is easiest for me.

I tried the newspaper pellet type when my cat had a foot injury, as recommended by the vet, but I found it difficult to scoop and both me and the cat were happy when I switched back to his regular litter. I left a litter box with the pellets next to his regular litter box and it’s still untouched months later.

I wish I could remember the brand of all natural litter I tried once. I think it was made from pea byproduct. Total failure. Despite regular cleaning, it seemed to hold odour, so that my cat came out of the box stinking. I ended up giving him a bath, he smelt so bad one day, and just tossed the rest of what was left.

I buy the 40# green box of whatever generic it is that WalMart sells. It clumps, and tho the box says “Low Dust” or some similar disclaimer, it’s dusty. But the cat box lives in the basement stairwell, so I don’t much worry about the dust. The cats use it and it scoops well, plus it’s cheap - a win all around.

That’s the Blue Buffalo brand I noted above.

When I read the thread title, I thought it referred to litters of kittens.

Fresh Step non-clumping. It doesn’t have much dust and the (three) cats seem to like it. I don’t understand how people use clumping litter when they have two or more cats. I have to scoop clumping litter a couple times a day or it forms a big, sticky blob on the bottom of the litter box. Takes me several minutes to scrape it out. In any case, with Fresh Step non-clumping, I just sift out the material, bag it, and dispose of it every couple days. I only change the entire box about once every two weeks (for three cats). Totally worth the price.

We use this too, the lavender scent. I live in a small apartment with 4 cats, it’s worth the price and will last a long time if you scoop it regularly.

I was kinda hoping it was about baby kitties. I have a few stories about litters I have bottle fed.
