A local cat supply store (called the Cat House) has a cat pram for around $250. It is like a lobster trap on wheels with a handle to push it, with screens instead of slats. I wish I could find a picture, but it might be a local person who has come up with this idea. If I could afford it, I would have already bought one. My cat is fearless outside (when she escapes), and loves getting carried around in baskets - I think she would absolutely love getting strolled around the neighbourhood in her pram. Can you imagine pushing your cat in her stroller around the mall?
They also have a cat run made of nylon mesh that you can put in your yard and allow your cat to get fresh air and sunshine without getting into any trouble or running off. I want one of those too.
I love that store! I haven’t seem the cat pram, but that would be funny to do - two of my girls would hate it, but Sedna would love it. I would buy all the cat trees, toys, and all the kitty knicknacks from there as well.
I have seen those! I know there is a website with both the pram and the tunnels, unfortunately I didn’t bookmark it. I want one too, my cat that tries to go out would enjoy it, I think. I try the harness and leash thing, but she fusses so much and once while she was out on a leash a large truck came by, the cat freaked, I picked her up and got all scratched up.
Nothing says “crazy cat lady” better than pushing your cat around the neighborhood in a pram…
http://www.drsfostersmith.com/ This site has some wonderful products. You can even order catalogs geared towards just cats, or dogs, or birds, or wild birds.
If that link works, it is the “outdoor” section for cats, which has the pram, the tunnels, and a couple other things as well.
I would love to get something like this for my Tater-tot, (like yours, he doesn’t like the harness) but I can’t afford it.
Oh I really want one of these. Actually I really need one. I took my cat to the vet today on four buses there and back and my hands are killing me from carrying him in his basket.
When a little girl, my aunt dressed up her kitten in doll’s clothes, and tried to take it for a stroll in a pram. The kitten, being as kittens are, wanted to hop out, so my aunt put a large rock on top of it to keep it still. As you can guess, the rock worked far too well.
That was about seventy years ago, but I figure my aunt still has not done enough penance.
My grandmother used to dress up my infant mother, place her in the sled with lots of blankets, attach the sled to their dog Jiggs, and have the dog tow the sled through town unattended to pick up their mail.
Fortunately, my grandmother never had to use the rock.
I’ve seen these in the Foster & Smith catalog. The cat run I kind of like, since they have a certain amount of freedom, but the stroller is just humiliating for all involved.
