Cate Blanchett / The Good German

Everytime I see Cate Blanchett in a movie, I am struck with what an excellent actress she is.

Today I saw The Good German (2006) and I was reminded of Meryl Streep’s Sophie’s Choice.

Cate plays a German lady and her accent is pretty amazing. I have seen her do other accents in the past. But this one was very heavy and IMO, she just knocked it out of the park.

I have also seen her in Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine (2013), Hanna (2011), Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007) (which I really loved). I really enjoyed all of those.

She played Katherine Hepburn in The Aviator (2004), The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008) and The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999). But I wasn’t too happy with any of those.

What is the name of that film she did where she escaped from prison or helped someone else to escape? It was set in Europe. I liked it but can’t remember much about it.

She’s done some other films as well. There was The Missing which was very interesting. But I always felt like I need to see that one again.

All in all, I think she may very well be one of the best actresses working today. Maybe even the best?

I agree that Cate Blanchett is one of the best. My favorite performance of hers was in Notes on a Scandal.
