Caviar Limes: Somehow both intriguing and horrifying

This picture of caviar limes makes me want to try one AND run away: Caviar limes

the price also makes me want to run away, so I’m guessing I’ll never try such a novelty item, but I’m intriguedly horrified. Or horrifiedly intrigued.

What is so horrifying about it?

You mean other than the fact that it looks like what Cthulhu would pass out at Halloween?

Those look amazing and I want some! What a terrific unexpected garnish. If I ever see one here in NC I’m getting one. Little pearls of lime juice nestled in a dollop of sour cream on a taco? Or on top of whipped cream on strawberry shortcake? YES PLEASE!

Well, they are native to Australia and therefore likely to kill you, like everything else in Oz.

It’s a lot less terrifying than the Face Hugger fruit. D

Two things I’d really like to grow myself, those buddha hand lemons and now these caviar limes!

I read this thread yesterday and some some finger limes (AKA caviar limes) in a produce market today. They also had Buddha’s hand citrons. Baader-meinhof fruit?

I want to bestow tiny vestibules of juice upon my nearest Catholic church…

Want! This would beat making juice spheres with alginate and lactate…

I am intrigued and would definitely purchase some to try if I saw some in a market, don’t know that I would be willing to buy a pound at a time though.

If you can buy them individually, why not try one or two. Put in Fish tacos, or mixed in with honey and greek yogurt, thrown in with some whipping cream and topping some dulce de leche, I think the possibilities are amazing!

I want one of those Nine Pound Lemons.

If you’re into booze, I’m thinking a chilled shot of vodka & lime caviar is a no-brainer. A shot of decent tequila with a freudian suck on a salt & lime filled phallic symbol sounds like a bartender’s dream creation.

speaking of Cthulhu…
