CBS Football Coverage- Why are the Cameras Hazy?

Why is it that when watching football on CBS, it appears they smeared Vaseline on the camera lens? FOX, NBC, and ESPN all have great pictures- For the longest time, I thought it was camera equipment. Yet, Saturday night, CBS and NBC did a simulcast of NFL networks Patriots v Giants game (same commercials and everything) and they still had the same problem. (Which kills the camera theory)

This is not my TV- I have seen this (excluding HDTV) in bars, in other states, friends houses, cable hookups, off-air antenna, etc.

I don’t remember which game I was watching and it probably was on CBS but it seemed that every time they switched to a different camera it was out of focus and it took them a second to refocus the thing.
