Ok, sometimes I wish that I was back in1986, when I could go to my local record store and walk out with a bag chock full of the latest hits on 45’s.
Sadly, I can’t do that anymore. Hell they don’t even have cassette singles anymore. They do have CD singles but apparently the record companies are very careful to release CD singles for songs that I can’t stand.
Which is fine.
And yes, I do kinda have a point to this.
Does anyone know if there is a CD single of Incubus’ “Wish You Were Here”? From scanning Billboard magazine, it would appear to be an album only track.
Yes, I know that it’s available on the latest NOW compilation, but I can’t stand any of the other songs.
So, any help or guidance to wear it might be found on the web or as an import?
According to the RIAA, you got to cough up $20 to buy the CD the song is in.
Or, you can do some, well, I can’t say it on this board because the moderators obey the DMCA, even if they don’t like it, and maybe, maybe, don’t want us to mention about CDs that crash computers. Oh never mind.
Oh, don’t even THINK about getting me started on how against that I am. Plus I don’t have the software or the right CD-Rom drive to do it, and even if I did, I wouldn’t, for reasons which don’t really need to be gotten into right now.
Request that the song be played on your local radio station. Have cassette poised to record. Since artists get a % of blank casette sales, your conscience shouldn’t bother you.
Sort of escapes me why it’s not ethical to download shareware music, but it’s perfectly OK for the music industry to refuse to issue singles, in essence forcing the public to pay $20 for one song. Oh, well. That’s up to each of us to work out for him/her self.
Typhoon’s post gave me an idea where to look. They do have it as a CD single at Amazon UK for £3.99 + £3.08 shipping. That’s about $10.50 which is quite pricey, but if you bought more stuff at the same time the shipping would be cheaper.
They don’t seem to have it in Canada, which would probably be a much better deal. Oh well.
They do? Just about every record store that I’ve been into only has the regular album length cassettes and those have all been shoved off into one corner, where they just sit there, day after day, being ignored, seething with pent up rage until…they all get marked down to 3 For a $1.
