I think the anecdotes here really point out how variable human biology is. And the inherent difficulty in making any vaccine or drug that’s effective, safe, and comfortable enough for people to use when not in extremis.
Yes, people have surprisingly varied responses to drugs, disease, vaccines, etc. My husband and I use all different OTC drugs, due mostly to different reactions. He takes tylenol, I take ibuprofen. He takes antihistamines which wipe me out. I take codeine cough syrup (not otc, but I use it like an otc drug) which wipes him out. I can take Afrin when I have a cold and I can breath for most of a day. He gets a couple hours of relief followed by a rebound that makes it totally not worth it. He had a slightly sore arm from the same vaccine that left me bedridden. A good doctor will work with you and your biology, and not just “follow the guidelines”.
