Cecil = partisan hack

Well, it’s unfortunate that Cecil was not intelligent enough to maintain his status as a semi-trusted authority on a range of subject. He no longer has any credibility as someone who purports to tell the “straight dope”.

This site should be renamed to “The Left Dope”.

It’s one thing to have an opinion, it’s another to have an opinion and spout it in a forum which is not intended for opinions, and it’s just plain assinine to spout it in such an ignorant and partisan way.

It’s obvious now that the war was right, just, and necessary for all parties involved, even the French somewhat agree on that now. The world is now a better place because of it.

However, there are certain immature individuals who refuse to see obvious facts and admit that Bush did the right thing and they are, instead, content with continuing to bash the President in spite of themselves.

I’m no fan of Clinton, but I reluctantly admitted that what he did in Kosovo as the Right Thing To Do. While his execution of it wasn’t the smartest, the end result was the removal of a genocidal manaic hell-bent on removing an entire ethnic group from the region.

Sound familiar? Here’s another couple facts: Clinton went into Kosovo IN SPIT OF THE UN, UNILATERALLY in the proper definition of the word (individually).

However, liberals like to say Bush went into Iraq “unilaterally” even though there are at LEAST (known) 49 countries who support and provide aid to the cause. That number is larger than the coalition which supported Bush 41 in 1991 and even larger than the nations that supported the Allies in 1939 in WWII. In fact, it’s one of the largest multi-national coalitions to have ever been formed in the history of the world. Yes, the partisan hacks still refer to it as “unilateral”.

Cecil, shame on you for ruining what little credibility you still had left. I know I will no longer take anything you say seriously since you have so much bias and partisanship, you cannot be trusted to tell any truth.

Oh, and the worst thing you could’ve done is quote Paul “The Forehead” Begala. That’s like quoting Jane Fonda or Jimmy Carter in foreign affairs matters.

Same on you.

The column being referenced, I presume, is: Did George W. Bush go AWOL…"

Admit it, you just want Cecil to say hi to you.

Cecil. You did a damn good job of registering newbies. You(and The Reader) only made one mistake–you should have charged $5 to register. That way, we could have a new server to handle the increased load. NOT that I’m complaining…

Hey! Now that’s a great idea. Start charging $5.00 to register and then have Cecil start making controversial statements left and right.

It’s like free money.

daz, please see the thread titled “Damn fool war”

That’d pay for a lot of hamster chow.

Y’know, it’s ironic. The last time that I saw Cecil described as a “partisan hack”, or words to that effect, was back when he wrote the column about Bush’s ancestors, where he was called a “right-wing apologist”. And before that, he was blasted for making a statement against abortion. Yup, that’s exactly what you’d expect from the “Left Dope”, isn’t it?

The thing is, Cecil Adams is the World’s Smartest Human Being. It’d be pretty surprising, wouldn’t it, if the World’s Smartest Human Being didn’t have some strong opinons? And it’d be even more surprising if said human being bases his strong opinions solely on the official platform of a particular political party. In fact, you’d expect to see him strongly agree with one side on one issue, and strongly agree with the other side on the other. Which is, in fact, exactly what you do see.

Two things Clinton at least had regional support and many (Donald rumsfeld Tom DeLay) criticized him then for acting unliaterally myself inlcuded.

Umm did you even read the Column. Cecil clealry said who Begala worked for and Cecil pretty much cleared bush of the assertion he was a draft dodger.

It just seems to me that some people can’t handle the fact that while bush won his election, over 50% of the nation didn’t vote for him. It’s legal and all that good stuff, but it’s not going ot make you well liked when I sit down to my blank TV screen casue the guy i didn’t vote for wrecked the economy and I can’t find a job.

Daz, if you hang around the Straight Dope long enough, Cecil Adams’/(Ed Zotti’s?) opinions will, in some way, offend everyone.

As a follow-up with my previous post, I have analyzed comments made by Cec in his columns, and have come to the conclusion that he’s a somewhat culturally conservative, fiscally liberal man, of probable Catholic heritage: in short, your typical North or Southwest Sider.

Nah, he’s a Puerto Rican bathhouse attendant…

I didn’t say that he couldn’t be Puerto Rican, though it is highly unlikely that he was a bathhouse attendant.

That’s OK, Mr. Mook, some of us got it.

It’s very simple.

Cecil is the smartest human being and infallible. The proof of this can be seen in his articles in which he supports conservative viewpoints which I share. What more proof do you need of his munificence and wisdom than that.

At other times, like this week, I cast the blamely squarely on the shoulders of Ed Zotti’s editorial indiscretions.

We all know that Cecil scribbles or dictates his columns and Ed edits them.

Clearly Ed, in a fit of political activism that was probably not deliberate but subconscious saw Cecil’s final line which actually read

“getting us into this damn fine war.”

and altered it to read “damn fool war.”

On the other hand, perhaps Ed did not alter it, and it was instead some tree-hugging typesetter.

There is an obvious ommission in Cecil’s column about the fact that when Bush went “AWOL” he was actually flying highly courageous but secret missions to save the world. These missions were so sensitive that even now, the truth cannot be revealed. Cecil of course, being a responsible citizen cannot reveal these facts (even though he knows them,) but for the clever amongst us, he hints at them in his discussion of Bush’s excellent piloting skills.

Between editorial screwups and the need for secrecy we can interprate Cece’s column to find out what he really meant.

Interprate?

I just hope he doesn’t smite us with his terrible swift sword.

If he is of Catholic heritage, then it really does not surprise me that he does not think the Inquisition was intended to murder an entire Bloodline. The Desposyni are the REAL rulers, not the puppet rulers that the Church installed. The Church also changed and deleted major important parts of the Bible that talked about Jesus and Mary Magdalene!!!

It’s quite obvious to me that Cecil is a shrewd businessman. He knows that the great majority of the papers that carry his column are local, strongly liberal small papers. He shot his comment right at his target demographic, scoring a direct hit. I don’t care one whit about Cecil’s politics, but I don’t see his pandering to be any different than any other pundit on tv or the radio.
