In this thread “Cecil” begins each of his responses to what looks like a GQ to me by striking a hostile and abusive tone with his questioners, none of whom offered him anything like that level of abuse in their questions. Is it any wonder that the civil tone that posters are often told to strive for around here is so freely violated? “Cecil” sets a tone that mods feel free to emulate towards posters, posters assume a similar tone with each other, and then the mods chastise posters for daring to offer insults, abuse, and such in GQ and GD. If you can’t take it, or don’t want it, don’t dish it out, maybe?
That’s a column from 1988. You are really pushing your luck, pseudotriton ruber ruber, and if I were taking a page from Cecil’s book, I would be doing more than just closing this frivolous thread.
