So after his second alcohol related arrest in less than a month it looks like the Chicago Bears have decided to send Benson to say hello to Tank Johnson. I wonder if this means Garrett Wolf will start this year ?
does the happy dance
It’ll be Adrian Peterson, Matt Forte and Garrett Wolfe in that order on the depth chart. I’m hoping this precipitates the signing of LaMont Jordan at a bargain price in order to add some depth.
He’s getting totally roasted on the radio today. The basic line that gets repeated is “Bad person, bad player, bye bye sucker.”
Finally.
The thing I don’t get about his story is he says he only had a few drinks with dinner, but was charged with drunk driving at 2 AM. TWO AM!!! Who ‘just goes out for dinner’ until 2 am? The douchbag was out partying and got caught.
Good. He sucks anyway.
I knew you guys were in for it within five minutes of his being drafted, during his first interview with ESPN as a Bear. He’d just been picked 4th overall in the NFL Draft, but instead of being happy or excited (or at least faking it for the sake of appearances), he looked and acted as someone had just shot his dog.
Not much would make me happier than seeing the Bears going into the season with the wrong Adrian Peterson as the starter. And Ron Dayne is still available!!!
I really wish this were the greatest of our problems.
Well, having seen how he operated for so long here in Austin, I can’t say I’m surprised.
The Texas Longhorns’ fans USED to look down on “outlaw” programs like Oklahoma and Miami, but in recent years, Texas has had a large number of bad characters. Cedric Benson was just the first to make headlines, not the last.
He was in and out of trouble time and time again (including a bizarre breaking-and-entering case)- yet, he always walked because he always had a semi-plausible explanation.
After a while, though, no matter how plausible your explanations sound, people get tired of hearing that you’re ALWAYS in trouble and it’s NEVER your fault.
Benson is every bit as stupid and immature as Ricky Williams- the difference being that Ricky has always remained a likable screw-up. Benson is just a plain old jerk.
Not to mention that he’s not even 1/4th the running back that Williams is. Sorta important point of distinction.
But he looked so good at UT playing with Vince Young
Wow. (bolding mine)
My head hurts…
Apparently he exchanged text messages with a reporter shortly after the story broke and his response was “I aced the field test, bro”.
Now, I hate Benson and could not be more thrilled to have him off my teams roster and payroll. That said, this could turn out to be a Tank Johnson type situation where the BAC test reveals he’s at something like a .065 BAC, well below the ridiculously arbitrary legal standard. This might be what he’s arguing in that quote above.
Considering the legal trouble he’s already in he’s a fucking idiot for even having 1 beer and driving just for PR reasons. Still, I’m not quite ready to compare the guy to Pacman Jones until I know exactly how serious this was.
Well, even Ricky frequently isn’t 1/4 the running back Ricky is! But when he put down the bong for 3 hours, he could be phenomenal.
Cedric, at his best, was very good, but never phenomenal. And unfortunately, he was just the first of a long series of undesirables that Mack Brown has brought to Austin of late.
You mispronounced “Jerry Angelo” and “Chicago”.
