Celebrities that are left-handed!

Anyone know which celebrities are left-handed? Being a leftie myself, I think it would be pretty interesting which celebrities are also lefties.

Lefties

It was a cool thing, back in the '92 presidential race, when all three of the major candidates - Clinton, Bush, and Perot - were lefties.

(They’re all on the list in Grace’s link, btw.)

Elmo from Sesame Street is left-handed, and so is Chuckie from Rugrats.

on the left side?

My dad is a lefty, so I had to struggle with the scissor and knot thing as a child. It’s very confusing to have someone who’s doing it backwards (to you) showing you how to do something.

I’ve also had to contend with a desk that is not designed for a right-handed person. My telephone is on the right side, making it difficult to pick up the phone, and it’s cumbersome if I have to write something down. (No, I can’t move it; that’s where the jack is.) My mouse is to the right of the computer, but since I’m not left-handed, it gets in the way of whatever I’m working on.

That said, I have seen special adaptive devices for the left-handed. My father uses notebooks with the spiral at the top or legal pads to avoid the spiral/ring problem, and he learned to use a mouse right-handed. There is a special numbers-only keypad you can get. It’s still right-handed, but it’s better than nothing.

And there are such things as left-handed kitchen utensils. My dad has some, and the kitchen is a lot cleaner for it.

Ross Perot and Bob Dole, as mentioned
Judy Garland

President James Garfield, who could write Greek with one hand and Latin with the other–at the same time
Ehud, Biblical judge
700 soldiers in the Israelite tribe of Benjamin: they could throw stones to the accuracy of a hairbreadth.
Rube Waddell, pitcher for the Louisville Cyclones (NL, late 1890s), Philadelphia A’s and St. Louis Browns, 1902 to 1908. Unusual for lefties, he pitched overhand.
Last week I took a test for a position in the public library system in Torrance, CA. I saw six left-handed people taking the test, and sitting in the same general area!

Being a die-hard Daily Show fan, I can report that Jon Stewart is left handed as well.

Oh, yeah. 80s pop icons George Michael and Phil Collins are both left-handed.

You could also go to the IMDB and search left handed in bios. Tons.

Some interesting ones I see
Matt Groening
JFK Jr.
Caroline Kennedy
Paul McCartney
both Prince Charles and Prince William
Brad Sherwood (Whose Line …)
Mary-Kate Olson
Chelsea Clinton

with that I’ll stop. They’ve got 230.

Michael Stipe, lead singer of R.E.M., is left-handed.

I’m married to a lefty and one of our kids is also left-handed, so I’m fairly aware. I also tie bows funny because my grandmother, who was left-handed, taught my mother, who is right-handed, to tie shoes, and I learned it the same way.

Now that you mention it, I seem to recall that Cecil is left-handed himself.

Robin, who can’t figure out her interest in this topic.

Oh, yeah. Airman Doors is left-handed, as well. He’s just too modest to post that.
