Well, I’m starting out the year with points. That sucks. I need to stop picking people I like for these lists.
Me too. The one time that I met him, he was an absolute gentleman.
Well, that’s a first, as far as I know.
:(Folks, please, let’s have no more mention of this person. Do it for my sake, will you?
Prasad, Crawford, Pollard, and Nakamatsu are your only unique picks, so you’re still out of luck there.
Which is still quite possible, of course.
That tidbit definitely made me go WTF?!
I’m sure I’m not the only one.
At any rate, according to this page, the idea is that the condom’s magnet would supposedly “improv[e] sensitivity” as “electricity is generated in the blood vessels in the female organs by Fleming’s left-hand rule”.
Ho-kay, then.
“The Hunt”. Written by Earl Hamner Jr, the guy who would later create The Waltons.
Yeah, I don’t think the ‘rule’ that picking someone for your list helps ensure their survival applies if you actually *want *them to keep on living.
Yeah, that part of the karmic rules of the game sucks.
Science!
On the other hand, it does not apply to wanting them to die, either. The first time I played a picked folks I* wanted* to die, and came out 110th or something.
They spite you by continuing to live and also leaving you pointless. What a pack of bastards, eh?
I’d say that that’s when it applies the most. If you don’t care about them one way or the other, but you’d be happy to pick up the points if they should kick the bucket, putting them on your list will help ensure their survival. (I think Michael Schumacher owes us all a major thank-you. :)) And if you really *want *them to die, they’re even less likely to die than if all you cared about was the points.
That’s why I kept Kim Jong-Il as an alternate - I don’t want to keep that insane bastard alive for an extra minute beyond his time.
As mentioned in a separate thread and eulogized on ESPN this morning, Stuart Scott who battled cancer 3 times lost the fight this morning.
That’s 51 points for me and 28(?) other people.
RIP Stuart Scott
also Ahuti Prasad, age 62

Stuart Scott: as cool as the other side of the pillow.
RIP, Stuart.
Apparently everyone was waiting until after the holidays to die.
In the 2014 Death Pool, 51 points would have put us all in the tie for 21st place, even if we had a goose egg otherwise (which I did).
Looks like this is shaping up to be a busier year for the Reaper. (Cue “Beat the Reaper” theme music.)
Abu Anas al-Liby, a suspect in the 1998 bombings of the U.S. embassies in Tanzania and Kenya, has died. He was 50. His trial in New York was supposed to start this week.
