I am getting an early start working on a scorekeeper. Can you please submit a clean list without numbers
Can someone pick someone who is exactly 100? If the celebrity dies at age 101 does the contestant get 0 points?
Brian
Just a spectator, but wants the rules to be clear
Yes and yes, although since it would result in 0 points, I’m not sure why the person would want to pick them, heh.
Well, OK then.

Did you mean to put this in the “2016” thread?
Did you mean to put this in the “2016” thread?
Perhaps it is a Helpful Hint. He is only worth 5 points. :dubious:
The point would be going for the Grim Reaper award, quantity not quality.
It doesn’t make it irrelevant. “A person who has the most people who died on their list, regardless of how many points they get for the whole thing” would still apply as that award.
Well, OK then.
Take this post…
DING DING DING
Some of you have picked KIRK DOUGLAS, but he’s turning 100 in a few days, you won’t get any points for him, he’s an invalid pick.
…to read as: “Well, okay, if that’s what you really want, but you won’t get any points for it, I will just ignore that pick when tallying points”.

With emphasis on the word ‘points,’ one hopes.
Because as long as awards such as the ‘quantity not quality’ award are part of the game, there is a difference between ‘invalid pick’ and ‘valid pick, no points.’
Just sayin’.
I’m not going to be counting any invalid picks toward the “quantity, not quality” award.
This means I will not count anyone over 100 or exactly 100 towards that award, on anyone’s list.
I put it in the rules in the OP.
Valid picks cannot already be 100.
Certainly sounds authoritarian just for the sake of it. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Really?
You think the small rule change below (in bold), from the OP…
- Valid picks CANNOT be:
a. already dead
b. already over 100
c. fictional
d. non-human
e. under age 18
f. a registered member of the SDMB
g. hostages held by terrorist organizations
h. famous solely as a result of their illness or the events surrounding their death
…is the power corrupting me?
Well, I’m sorry you feel that way.

Well, I’m sorry you feel that way.
That, and the arbitrary change to the ranking system.
It’s not a change, that’s how the ranking system originally was.
Anyway, with all due respect, not every host is going to do it exactly like every other one. I’m a new guy, so I wanted to bring in a few new, small changes. I certainly don’t see it as anything huge or game breaking, but if you do…I’m sorry for it.
I’m not going to sit in here and argue the case with people, though, so this is my last post on the subject. From here on, I’m only going to be answering game questions, not “debating about rule changes” stuff.
