Jack McCloskey, the general manager who built the Detroit Pistons’ “Bad Boys” championship teams, died Thursday at age 91, the Pistons announced.
It’s been a busy end of the week, so I didn’t find out about al-Binali’s death until checking in here today. That’s the ideal way to take the lead AFAIAC (however transitory my lead might be!), with the death of someone that none of us will shed any tears over.

Damn, that is like hearing about the death of that one teacher you had who used to slap your knuckles with a ruler for coughing in class and always gave you undeserved Ds on every test.

I think the article was updated … it now says that he was 34 years old (66 points)
Woohoo! Wait, 4 points? Dang it!
Fred Kummerow, who warned the world against Trans Fats long before anyone paid attention, died May 31st at 102. He never gave up red meat or eggs fried in butter.
Roger Smith, the suave leading man of television who starred on the popular 1950s-'60s ABC private eye series 77 Sunset Strip before a neuromuscular disease ended his acting career in his 30s, has died. He was 84.
The thought crossed my mind that the age of 34 given in the article could just be a typo. But without going into a lot of detail, the sourcing for his claimed 9/3/84 birth date isn’t what I’d call strong, either (a bio written by a student). So:
66 points is what it should be, AFAIAC.
And leaves Ann-Margret a widow.
No one had Roger Smith, with the 4-point adjustment for Turki al-Binal, standings are:

I hate to be a pain in the neck, but I think it was just supposed to be a 2-point adjustment - the question was whether he was 32 or 34 at death, hence 68 points (as originally scored) or 66 points (per application of rule 4). So AFAICT I should have 187 points, and Clams should have 66.
My bad, will update at next “life-loss/point-gain” moment
That’s fine. Thanks, Death Shroom!
