Add former MLB player and manager Don Baylor, 68, to the list.
Oh, Baylor, now that’s a sad one. And not just because I didn’t have him on my list. Too young!
I got to see them at a couple small gigs early on and met a few of them over the years. Having always wanted to be a drummer Jerry Edmonton was the only one who really made an impression. When he died I actually went into a funk for about a week. Got to talk with Kay for a bit a few years back; I avoided mentioning that I thought his solo stuff was better than his stuff with the band. Maybe it was the power-thing over the band name or whatever but I’m told he’s real sensitive about his “solo career”.
David Maslanka, American Composer, Age 73
"An Atlanta rapper who called himself “bulletproof” after surviving 10 shootings was shot and killed by an unidentified gunman Sunday evening in DeKalb County, Ga., according to officials.
Yung Mazi — who had collaborated with big-name artists such as Rich Homie Quan and Yung Thug — was gunned down in the Kirkwood neighborhood of Atlanta, the DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s office said."
NOT on my list of (supposed) doomed celebrities. Hell, he’d been shot ten times, more than a cat could take. How was I to know that a simple pizza run would do him in?

Dang, I had him on my list a couple of years ago. It was a list of folks who’d been in kaiju films.
Dick Locher, pullitzer prize winning political cartoonist and took over Dick Tracy for a bit, dead at 88.
Judith Jones, editor who published Anne Frank’s diary, John Updike, Julia Child, and James Beard (among others), dead at 93 of Alzheimer’s.
Like a headstone cowboy…
Never mind, I need to read more carefully.
But yea, RIP anyhow for Glen.
I don’t like this. Sorry, but it’s rather disrespectful for a great talent.

You’re just now complaining about bad taste in the Death Pool? :dubious:
Syracuse, N.Y. – Former Syracuse football coach Dick MacPherson died on Tuesday at the age of 86.
Beloved for his personality and his connection to the Syracuse community, as well as his ability to win football games, MacPherson coached 10 years at the school, highlighted by an undefeated season in 1987.
There should be bonus points for posts like this…
As I stated, I’m not a participant in this game, so I don’t come here often.
Anyway, carry on. I just thought… well, nevermind.
Sorry.

What can I get for “Ashes to ashes, True Grit to True Grit”?
Yeah, it is disrespectful, but yes, it is The Death Pool, where the announcement of one of our players would be met with, “Dammit! What a loss! I didn’t have him.”
My apologies, I believed you to be a player.
A popular singer, some bad acting in True Grit, and some good acting in the same movie. I vaguely remember the variety show that he hosted.
Didn’t he do another film from the Charles Portis novel Norwood? There was much local todo at the time about an Arkansas actor making films of the novels of an Arkansas author. I worked in a library and spoke to Charles Portis a few times. He was annoyed that I read one of his books from the library rather than buying it, but he was polite. Regarding having his novels filmed, he said something like, “You take their money and forget about it.”
A friend of mine related a story at a Portis book signing, where some idiot said to him, “This is for my daughter! She has read all your books! She reads anything!”
