Celebrity Death Pool 2018

Christopher Stasheff died yesterday of Parkinson’s Disease at the age of 74.

Crud. I was always hoping he’d go back to his Starship Troupers series.

I was just coming here to post that. I read his Warlock series a long time ago and I don’t remember much about it but I remembered liking it.

My theory on Robin Williams is that the disease progressed to the point when he could not control his brain. Just think of all the time Robin spent controlling his thought processes. I’m amazed he did it so well for so long.

When he lost control, he could not cope without it.

That’s my theory.

Read many years ago that she originally was going to be a regular in the Bond films but the producers later decided they wanted a new “Bond Girl” for each film.

RIP

Joe DeNardo, long-time chief meteorologist at KDKA in Pittsburgh, has just given me 13 points – which is 13 more points than kopek has.

Is this a unique pick?

Matt “Guitar” Murphy-gone at age 88.

Dominic Joseph “D.J.” Fontana, the longtime drummer for Elvis Presley who helped pioneer the backbeat swing of rock and roll, died Wednesday, The Tennessean reports. He was 87.

If there are any famous bass players circling the drain, we’ll have a pretty killer power trio.

Duck Dunn went a few years ago.

Whenever I’m feeling down I crank Shotgun Blues to 11 and let all the dark stuff drain out of me.

“And featuring, on guitar, Matt “Guitar” Murphy.

And I loved his later work on Star Trek.

Yes, I know it was D.C. Fontana, not D.J. Fontana, who worked on Star Trek.

She is alive and well, her work was highly regarded by Leonard Nimoy, who isn’t.

Since we’re on vacation and she is leading me yet another year and we are so close to New Jersey right now … darn her and her Yinzer-list.

Clarence Fountain, leadeer of the Blind Boys of Alabama

Georg von Tiesenhausen, designer of the lunar rover.

Rapper/producer Xxxtentacion, real name Jasweh Onfrey, was killed in a drive-by shooting in South Florida, leaving 80 points on the (turn)table.

As an aside, I don’t hear about drive-by shootings as I used to. Has the frequency diminished, or are we just too used to it to have it make the news anymore?

After we libruls take away all the guns, you’ll have to watch out for drive-by knifings.

They are, sadly, still fairly routine around here. They just don’t involve celebrities.

Five Time British Open Golf Champion Peter Thomson of Australia has permanently hit the 19th hole.

Age 88.

Sam Panopoulos, creator of the Hawaiian pizza.

Martin Bregman, manager and film producer who discovered Al Pacino.

Stale pizza leftovers… He died last year.
