We seem to missing sports writers and reporters with some regularity. I saw this a few days ago and assumed it would be posted. My bad.
Paul Zimmerman, a pro football writer whose deep understanding of the game informed his work at Sports Illustrated and influenced the way other reporters covered the sport, died on Thursday in Noblesville, Ind. Also known as Dr. Z, he was 86.
He had retired from writing involuntarily because of multiple strokes a few years ago.
Kitty O’Neil, Deaf Daredevil and World’s Fastest Woman, Dies at Age 72
Great story. She overcame multiple illnesses that left her deaf at age 5. Learned sign language and how to play piano and cello. Was a potential Olympic high diver until another illness. Later cancer.
In the 1970s and 80s, O’Neil acted as a stunt double in countless movies, most notably The Blues Brothers and Smokey and the Bandit. Her most notable stunt, however, came while she was acting as stunt double for Lynda Carter in “Wonder Woman” in 1979. She leaped off the top of the Valley Hilton hotel in Sherman Oaks onto an inflatable air bag set up on the pool deck. That was no easy feat: it was a 127 foot drop.

Speaking of deaf (though they won’t hear you speaking), Bernard Bragg, mime, actor, and founder of the National Theater for the Deaf is dead at 90.

I imagine him in an empty room, flailing desperately while signing “I can’t breathe! I can’t breathe!”

I bet the air ran out in that little box he was trapped in.
Or maybe he was murdered. Or shot himself. Were there any reports of a silencer being used?
