Celebrity Death Pool 2019

Alelia Murphy, the oldest living American, has died at age 114.

Roller Skating?

It’s hard to believe that this weekend will see the beginnging of the 2020 DeathPool!

Jonathan Miller, a British MD and science broadcaster, and occasional comedian amongst other things, has died aged 85. He came into my view when he wrote and hosted a documentary series called The Body In Question, and an amazing one-off doc about a man who had a very short term memory of less than a minute.

Yeah, I had him in 2014 and 2015 (my first two years in the Death Pool), but I dropped him after that. Probably due to the combination of a diminishing number of potential points, and a seemingly low likelihood of his dying within the next year. And after awhile, I just plain forgot about him.

That’s why I kept Ariel Sharon on my list for so long. He wasn’t worth many points when he did kick off, but I the satisfaction of getting those points long after the bandwagon broke down was worth it.

Note to self: Play a list of all free solo climbers.

He was on my 2018 Themed Deathpool list. (The theme was the Nixon administration.) If he had died a year earlier, I would have tied for third place.

That reminds me, I need to check my list of BASE jumpers over in the themed Death Pool.

I had essentially the same thought a few years ago - a bunch of people overwhelmingly in their 20s and 30s participating in a very dangerous sport - but my themed list of BASE jumpers was 0-for-2018, and was enroute to 0-for-2019 when I checked it a few months back.

Shelley Morrison, perhaps best known as Rosario the maid on Will & Grace, has died at 83.

Lil Bub crosses the Rainbow Bridge.

Seymour Siwoff, who knew the score for baseball and other sports, dies at 99.

He was the head honcho for the Elias Sports Bureau for many many years.

And yet, if you had him, you only scored one point.

Dorothy Catherine “D.C.” Fonatana, one of the most important writers of the original STAR TREK and beyond, dies at 20 points. Sadly, she was my first alternate so I remain pointless for the year

Damn.

Dammit, I misspelled her name: it’s Fontana.

Death has tallied Irving Burgie and his bananas.

Barbara Hillary, first black woman to travel to the North Pole and first woman to travel to the South Pole (and by extension the first woman to travel to both poles) has now traveled to the SD Celebrity Death Pole…er Pool.

If somebody had picked the theme of Korean pop stars, they would be doing great in this game.

Actor Cha In-ha has died at the age of 27, following the deaths of singer Goo Hara, age 28, last week and singer Sulli, age 25, in October.

And their list of Korean pop stars would be fun to read too. Cha in ha goo hara sulli.

Actor Ron Liebman dead at 82. RIP; you done good.

Ah, jeez.

Big Bird died. :frowning:
