I just read that GM just dropped Tiger Woods as an endorser. I imagine that he wasn’t any big asset for them, cf. their horrible condition as of late.
It made me think: Would I buy something just because my favorite millionaire bought it, that wasn’t in their field of expertise? I don’t watch sports, so I wouldn’t be the target market for Tiger Woods’ preferences.
I think that if Geddy Lee or Alex Lifeson endorsed Fords, I would only be glad that they were getting money from Ford, and then buy my Chrysler or Chevy…maybe even Buick.
What’s your take on this sort of thing?
The money a company spends on a celebrity endorsement could be better spent on making a better quality product. As a rule, I don’t buy products from companies that use celebrity endorsements.
I only buy my robot insurance from that company represented by Sam Waterston.
ETA: When my mom mentioned she has developed dry eye, I immediately said “Restasis!” and the only reason I remembered it was because of Janine Turner.
