Celebrity Oversharing: The Shia LaBeouf Edition

I have always had an irrational desire to push his face in, since the first moment I saw him, so I can’t even blame my ire on his actual douchebaggery, but his grandiosity here certainly cements it.

This reminds me of a commentary track for Arrested Development where Jeffrey Tambor proudly describes how he prepared for a scene where his character is running desperately by actually running up and down stairs to get winded.

One of his costars pipes up with, “Or you could have just, you know, acted.”

That was a joke. That was from a possibly apocryphal story about Lawrence Olivier and Dustin Hoffman on the set of Marathon Man. I heard Joan Plowright tell the story on Letterman.

That joke goes back to the days of Aristophanes.

Shia is gthe progenitor of a new style of acting known (by me) as “panic acting”. He appears to be in a panic over something every moment on the screen.

It did happen with Hoffman and Olivier. Hoffman now claims that he wasn’t trying to look tired in a method way, he was out all night partying and Olivier was scolding him for that not criticizing method acting. Not much method going on with Aristophanes.

Here he is in “Transformers IV: The Cat side of the Lebouf”

Nononononononono!

You guys were the ones that made me notice that he says that all the time - once noticed, it cannot be unnoticed.

OK, but that DVD happens to be where I heard it first, and it still is what I think of when TheBeef prattles about his method. :stuck_out_tongue:
