Cellphone Duplication

With the cellphone becoming such a necessary thing anymore, is there a way to duplicate it? I’m not talking about just all the data but rather having a spare.
One often needs the phone to do common things like enter a sports arena, park your car etc. Not to.mention that most of us don’t even know close friends and relatives phone numbers. And people expect instant contact as well.
I know I semi panic when I temporarily lose track of it especially when traveling.

Get two phones.

If they are iPhones, you can even combine them, so that phone calls and texts are shared between them, as long as you use the same Apple ID on both. You can also connect an iPad with an iPhone for messaging, etc.

I believe it’s even done automatically if you’re using the same Apple ID, and you have to manually turn that off.

The Apple Watch with cellular can duplicate your phone with the same number ringing on both.

I am not clear what you want to do.

You want any incoming calls to be forwarded to two different cell phones at the same time? Use Google Voice (free):

If you just want to share your phone directory you should be able to set this up if you use the same operating system on both.

My impression is that the OP is primarily concerned with having a spare phone, so that (for example) they could carry a spare with them when traveling so that they’re not totally f’ed if their primary phone gets lost or broken.

I have two Androids. I log into the same account on both. The older one is essentially a duplicate of the newer one, it receives messages, Whatsapp etc.

It just has a really scratched lens due to poor design, so it takes blurry pictures.

It does not receive phone calls, as I have not bothered to try duplicate the SIM card, if that is even possible. But if I lost my newer phone it would take very little time to activate a SIM card with my current number, and use the old phone as usual.

That’s correct. I would want a second phone just like the original in the event that original is lost, stolen or dropped into the ocean etc.

I would like that capability as well. Essentially have everything on my phone up in the cloud so that if I lose my phone I can get out a spare phone, or buy another phone, sync and continue on. If I have tickets on my old phone, I will have those tickets on my new phone. A complete duplication. I suspect that the complete backup Apple offers does this, but since I won’t pay to upgrade the measly storage Apple offers for free, I can’t confirm that. Though it is true that Apple allows backups to exceed the 5 Gig default, but then I wouldn’t be able to do anything else in the cloud. Still it would be a nice feature to have the ability to push a button and get my old phone back.

You don’t necessarily need to pay for iCloud to backup your iPhone; you can back it up locally on your computer.
