Can I back up two different iPhones to the same iCloud account?

My personal phone and my business phone are both iPhones (though of different generations). My employer allows reasonable private use of the business phone and also lets me load some apps and private content such as music onto that device. That would make it attractive for me to back up the business phone to my personal iCloud account; there’s enough storage space available. But could that mess up things? What if I buy a new private iPhone and want to clone the old device to the new one via the iCloud back-up - would it be ensured that the new device would be a clone of the old personal one, rather than the business one? Or would the new device be some kind of hybrid of the two existing phones? In particular, I have a range of apps on my private phone that I paid for and that I wouldn’t want to lose.

Yes. Backups are organised by device name, so you’d be able to choose to restore a new iPhone from whichever phone’s backup you wanted.

Just to add, FWIW, even if you were in a situation where you did accidentally mess up the back ups somehow, you wouldn’t lose the apps you’ve paid for. Those are tied to your Apple ID, and so long as they are available in the App Store for download, you can install them again whenever you want.

Question answered. Thanks!

If one of your phones is an X or newer, and both phone lines are with the same carrier, you can put both lines on the same phone, as the X and newer generation phones have a dual sim capability.
