DFW is better for me, but I can still go to Austin if that’s what everyone decides.
Yeah. I remember that day real well. I didn’t get picked for the jury (I was number 36 out of 36), not that it mattered, since, IIRC, it ended in a mistrial for some reason or another.
And, yes, I hated Abilene with a passion and am not in a hurry to move back.

Dallas. Austin would be a strategic impossibility.
If I can do it, I can do either Dallas or Austin. I’d prefer Austin, but I’d also like to meet racinchikki and gunslinger.
We have, you know, scheduled two Texas Dopefests back to back in the past, to accomodate as many members of the crowd as possible.
Why have I missed this thread completely until now?

Well, by my count we have three votes for DFW, and three for Austin. Ringo: how’d them thar back to back dopefests work?
When we’ve scheduled back-to-back DopeFests in the past (and we’ve done this four or five times now), we’ve arranged for them to occur on consecutive weekends that best accomodated who could attend when and where. FWIW, we’ve called’em “twofers” in the past.
Someone has to start making decisions. Suggestions have been made, and the thread is now languishing.
I’d suggest that you, FinnAgain, as the instigator of this effort, start another thread (or two, if you’re going for a twofer) with the name of the city (or cities) involved in the thread title. That will draw more flies. Link to this one.
Shady Grove has been the site of at least a couple of Austin DopeFests I’ve attended (sometimes referred to as BatDopes) and it’s a nice venue when the weather is still somewhat Spring-like. An early afternoon gathering on a Saturday allows out-of-towners to attend, and also allows the group to meet and bleat with time to retire to the Congress Street bridge to watch the bats come out. After that, people can venture out in whatever groups they care to for a sampling of the Austin nightlife.
You’re the man! Start a new thread, set a date and a time. While I’ve attended many DopeFests all over Texas, the next month makes it look a little tough for me. But, there’s some hope I can attend. One way or another, though, I will play the part of the co-conspirator and try to bump your new thread(s) at least once a day until fruition.

I’m going to school in San Antonio and I’ll be done by May 9th. My vote would be for Austin.
