I was tire kicking at a car dealer the other day and looked at a used car. The salesman said the car was not a certified pre-owned, and would not get the warranty such cars got (it was the same manufacturer as the dealership). I later found the same car (same vin) on the manufacturer’s web site listed, at that dealership, as a certified pre-owned with the warranty. Why would a dealer not want to sell it as certified if it is already listed as certified?
That particular salesman did not know the car was listed, the car was listed in error, or he thought he could sell it to you without the warranty.
Maybe they found something on a recent test drive that would be an expensive repair under the warranty so they pulled the warranty as an option but haven’t updated the website yet.
I’d inquire into it or stay away from that car.
