Anyone making book on how many mod notes and warnings will be handed out to posters other than Cesario before Cesario is banned?
The best argument for allowing his thread is that he might make a bannable statement - however, he seems too smart for that, and it is more likely that reasonable posters will be banned due to their reactions to him. Plus the mods don’t seem very aggressive with respect to his discussions of illegal behavior - I assume he is just barely not crossing the line.

I dare any moderator who thinks that Cesario does not deserve at least a suspension to read that post. Claude Remains was suspended for supplying an obnoxious image (“…pump full of jizz”). Cesario deserves one as well.
I, like a poster upthread, am aggravated by the fact that people
a) cannot talk about file sharing, as that may encourage illegal behavior (fair enough)
b) talk about previous bad acts in the past (which, on the face of it, is fair enough)
c) use certain insults
and yet, cesario is advocating something which is
a) illegal,
b) permanently damaging to people who cannot protect themselves,
and c), thoroughly distasteful to the majority of the civilized world.
Now, to be fair, he is advocating changing the law, but I am willing to wager that a thread regarding protesting against the draconian measures employed by copy right protection organizations in a perfectly permissible way would be frowned on.
The continued permission of the SDMB mods for Cesario’s postings is making the mods rather complicit in the bad acts of this poster and anyone who may be inspired, or at least justified by his thinking.
I am generally a lurker, rather than a poster, but I felt that these logical incompatibilities needed to be pointed out.
I certainly sympathize with the free speechers who state that people shouldn’t be squelched for espousing unpopular views. Fine, well, and good. But it also seems like a reasonable case could be made that he’s guilty of trolling (i.e. intentionally trying to elicit inflammatory reactions), and therefore banning is justified.
You’d lose that bet, as a search will immediately demonstrate.

Huh. Weren’t some people acting like Ed himself won’t let them ban him? I think he (or whoever else is keeping Cesario around) has given Cesario too much leeway because he knows that he hates him because of his pedophilia. It’s fairly common to overcompensate when you’re trying to be fair to someone you’re biased against.
The thing is, before this bruhaha happened, I was actually starting to feel like I could actually discuss things with him. But I’m pretty sure he knows that his opinions will cause problems, and by the way he’s reacted here, I think that’s exactly what he wanted.
He’s trolling, plain and simple. And it’s sad, because he actually had me convinced that he might just have the typical level of pedophilic obsession, and just trouble talking about anything else. He actually seemed to at least occasionally post about something else.
I’m the one guy on this board who will go all out to defend people with mental disorders (check out my thread in ATMB about Curtis LeMay or the Pit thread about the depressed guy who wouldn’t take advice). Yet I see no reason to defend this guy anymore. He doesn’t care that what he is saying causes people distress. He flat out admitted this to me in ATMB. So I no longer have any reason to be nice. I’m not going to be mean, though. After this crap is decided, he will no longer exist, whether he is banned or not.
