CFL record: Diontae Spencer gets 496 all-purpose yards in one game

Spenser got 496 all-purpose yards for the Ottawa RedBlacks, who beat the Hamilton Ti-Cats 41-36 to clinch the Eastern Division first place.

Broke the league record of 474 yards from 2000.

Holy mackerel. It sounds like a fair amount of those were on kick returns?

Wow was the East bad this year. No team will finish over .500, and every team might finish below .500. It would be embarrassing if they didn’t have the cross-over.

Looking up the box score on CFL.ca:

  • 9 pass receptions for 133 yards
  • 7 punt returns for 169 yards
  • 6 kickoff returns for 165 yards
  • 1 missed field goal return for 29 yards

Interestingly, though he accounted for nearly 500 yards, he did not score a touchdown.

Pshh I did that, like, last week. But you don’t see the papers talking to ME about it…

Wanna see my Madden receiver’s numbers?

Grats to Spencer, that’s insane. Hope he got to sit down after all was said and done, and rest those legs. Remember that moving forward 10 yards can easily require running 30 or more, especially on punt returns where you rarely get the chance to run straight to daylight.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what the record is in the NFL for total yards in one game?

By this list it is 404. Glyn Milburn in 1995.

133 kickoff returns, 95 punt returns, 131 rushing, 45 receiving.
