Has there ever been an exhibition game between the NFL and the CFL?
Do you think there could be a market for 1 game per year? What if the winners of the Grey Cup play the winners of the Super Bowl? They could alternate countries each year and play by their rules.
I’d love to see it, however I doubt that any Canadian team would draw interest in the US. No interest means no TV deal means no game. Who in the US would want to watch something like Tampa Bay vs. Saskatchewan?
The CFL is entirely made up of athletes who aren’t good enough to play in the NFL. Such a game would be embarassing (particularly if the Super Bowl winner was involved).
Actually, around here, a Buffalo vs. Hamilton or Toronto exhibition game might draw some interest. A fair number of Western New Yorkers watch the CFL on CBC, and a lot of southern Ontarians watch the Bills.
I would pay dearly to watch a few games of good upper-echelon NFL teams playing each other according to CFL rules. Best players, most entertaining game.
Not to mention you’d hardly see the SB champs’ 1st stringers anyway. There’s no way they’d risk injury in what amounts to an exhibition game. I’ll lay money that they Pro Bowl will be gone in 5-10 years for this very reason.
It would be pretty embarassing for the CFL. I’d think even the second stringers for the Arizona Cardinals would lay a good ass kicking to any Grey Cup champion or even any probowl team that the CFL could muster.
