Chairman Kaga goes Broadway!!

So I get home from work tonight and my roommate is watching some PBS tribute to the 10 year anniversary of Les Miserables. They collected some sort of “dream international cast,” and they were all singing “Do you hear the people sing.” They would each take a line or two and sing them in their own language. All fine and good.

But then they got to the Japanese singer, and it was Chairman Kaga from Iron Chef!!! They popped his name up and everything, so I know it was him. He sounded good too. It was a surreal experience - like worlds colliding. I mean, I knew they just hired an actor to play the Chairman, but he just didn’t look natural in a tux.

Well, I guess now we know where he got the fortune it took to start Kitchen Stadium. But I desperately want to see him in “Cats.”

“Memories…if they serve me correctly…”

Kaga Takeshi’s actually a fairly accomplished actor and singer. He was in Les Miserables, but also in West Side Story and Jesus Christ Superstar. I dunno why, but every time I think of him as “the first Japanese Jesus,” I get the giggles somethin’ fierce.

I just finished writing an essay for my summer class on Iron Chef. Gotta love those Pop Culture classes.

You’re not the only one!
