Challenge us with a non-famous line from a movie

Still not as funny. :frowning:

You’re right terentii. Our misremembered version is funnier.

That’s why I misremembered it!

A: “It’s a mathematical progression based on…”
B: “I can guess what it’s based on.”

“He may have the advantage now, but wait 'til he opens his mouth.”

“Politics and poetry, promises, these are lies. Numbers are as close as we get to the handwriting of God.”

Pacific Rim

Our Man Flint!

Yes! Flint was one of my role models when I was a teenager.

The full line is “It’s a mathematical progression, 40-26-36. It’s based on…”

I’ve loved A Hard Day’s Night and its Goon-inspired comedy ever since it came out (I was about 8 at the time), and I always thought that their harping on about how clean he was was funny in its own right, but this adds a whole new level of funny to it.

When Sanford and Son debuted in the US, I learned that it was based on a British predecessor, like All in the Family, and may have known that Brambell was the title character, but it wasn’t until today that I learned that he was specifically known in that show as a “dirty old man.”

Brits: Was that intended only literally, or was it implied he was also possibly sexually “dirty” as well?

Americans: Was Sanford called dirty, or a dirty old man, too? I know he was a junk dealer, but I didn’t watch it that much and don’t recall.

“Looking for your general friend? He’s barbecuing his nuts on Hollywood Boulevard.”

"You know, it’s not half bad for your first try. I changed all the ‘yeahs’ to ‘oohs,’ but listen to this: ‘She loves you, ooh, ooh, ooh.’ "

Peggy Sue Got Married

Got it!

“If it ain’t it’ll do til a mess gets here.”

“…til the mess gets here.” No Country For Old Men

“Where’d you get that, outta the hamper?”

“We have a pool and a pond. The pond would be good for you.”

Caddyshack

“Well, I only see one LeBaron, Freddy.”
