Champions League Champions: Manchester United

I agree - nice to hear it from a neutral, though!

Why would “longer studs” cause cramp? I’ve never suffered from cramp during a game and always wear long studs, although I daresay I run half the distance of the pros, at half the speed.

Well, I suppose that longer studs are either heavier, or make running fast more of an effort. I can’t say one way or the other, because I’ve never run the roughly 10K + that the pros run in a full 90 minute game wearing studs on a wet field. :stuck_out_tongue:

It MIGHT explain the apparent difference between Chelsea and United, though, if the players on Chelsea were wearing a different stud length than the players for United. However, my personal take is that the United players were having cramping issues, too, just they weren’t using them to milk the clock for time and the audience for “sympathy.” :dubious:

Drogba actually wasn’t that bad at whining. That honor goes to Joe Cole. What a crybaby.

Yeah, Drogba wasn’t falling over as much as usual, albeit largely because he was completely anonymous for half the match.

The cramp thing was just ridiculous (and was what started the bust-up that led to Drogba’s dismissal). Chelsea stuck the ball out of play because a bunch of their players were cramping up, then expected Tevez to give them the ball back in a favourable position. He was quite right to refuse to do so - what was once a nice sporting tradition (putting the ball out for an injured player and receiving it back uncontested) has now become an excuse for a nice sit down and a breather, according to Chelsea. No way does cramp count as an “injury”, any more than being out of breath does, and no way was Tevez obliged to make life convenient for Chelsea after they kicked it out of play. It was a travesty that he got booked for that skirmish - all he did was defend himself after being surrounded by gurning twats in blue.

God, I hate Chelsea. And not in the obligatory “ha ha we all hate <team x>” kind of way - they really are the most repugnant bunch of whiny reprobates* to have taken the field in living memory. I’m actually a big fan of Mourinho for his sheer entertainment value, but the mindset he instilled in that team is absolute poison.

*Carvalho, Makalele and Cech excepted.
