Anyone here playing this excellent PS2 game? Or want help with sorting out the bugs it has?
This is a hack and slash rpg with the best graphics and great gameplay, but it suffers from several bugs (BOO to SOE). Anyone here like to discuss this game?
The bugs are putting off some users, but really are not a problem if you keep multiple saves of your character and save often. So there is a good chance of seeing it second hand from users who can’t stand the bugs.
Personally I have Champions of Norrath and Baldurs Gate 2, and find CoN much more fun to play, though I like both.
The bugs are ocasional dvd loading problems (which are fixed by ejecting then inserting the dvd) some graphic slowdown, and two possible ways of getting to an unescapable position in the game (both quite obscure). Plus there is a cheat or two that works online to give an unfair advantage to the cheater over the other players online.
I created a thread about this game about 2 weeks ago and it sunk like a rock. Oh well.
I’ve got it and think it’s great, but definately glitchy, and the online portion isn’t implemented too well. My file has already been corrupted about 2 times, and recently has become corrupt a third time. Not a big deal since I can always take it online and just overwrite whatever data I have while keeping my character, but I’d be pissed if I couldn’t take it online. Anyways, I’m a level 43 Shadow Knight. Anyone here play online?
Yep, I’m playing it, and loving it. I played Baldur’s Gate 1, and enjoyed it pretty well. I was going to get BG2, but the reviews I read were not terribly positive. They said to wait for Champions of Norrath in a few weeks, because it would be a much better game. So I did, and I’m not disappointed. Great game. (I’m not playing online.)
I’m actually glad to hear that those freeze-ups are a bug in the game, because I thought it was a problem with my system.
I love the customizable characters (sex, hairstyle, skin tone, etc.). That alone is a big improvement over BG. My favorite characters are the barbarian and the shadowknight. I haven’t done much with the cleric or the wizard yet, but I don’t much care for the ranger so far. Having to keep supplied with arrows is annoying.
I don’t play online (if I had t’internet in my house I wouldn’t ever get out). I also have Baldurs Gate 2, and there are a few ways in which BG2 is better than Champions, but Champions is still the best game IMHO.
I played a Shadow Knight through the whole game, but have also played every other character to lvl 20ish. The graphics in this game are so nice, with lots of little touches that make all the difference.
