Auggie, The Cutest Dog on the Planet ™, came to us as a 6-month-old stray in 2002. We put a dog bed in our bedroom, but he almost never used it. He woudl come into the bedroom and sleep on his bed if there was a thunderstorm because he was scared, but other that that, he prefers to sleep on the couch.
2 1/2 years go we got little teeny kittens that are now big honkin’ cats. hey have slept in our bedroom since we got them.
In Dec of last year, I got a really bad case of the 'flu. Then it blossomed into pleuresy. I was home from work a lot through Dec, Jan and Feb. Auggie suddenly started sleeping on his bed in our room whenever I was in the bedroom. Now, he sleeps in there every night. Not always the whole night, but he will always come in with me when I go to bed.
Why is he suddenly sleeping on his bed in our room? I have a few theories-
-
He got inot the habit when I was sick and never got out of it.
-
It’s taken him 2 1/2 years to figure out that the cats sleep there and he’s decided he doesn’t want to be left out.
-
The bedroom is the most comfortable room in the house- the thermostat is in there so it’s the coolest room in the summer and the warmest one in the winter.
-
Auggie has a brain the size of a walnut and I should give up trying to figure out what goes on in there.
Obligatory cute pic of Auggie asleep (not on his doggie bed):
