Change your SDMB location to Obama Country!

Many of us did it four years ago, and this seems like a good time to do it again. Hope you will, too!

Hell no. He’s another failed Democratic President, right up there with Jimmy Carter. I look forward to his defeat this fall.

Is that a whoosh? To WHOM?

Well, to some folks, “failed Democrat” is redundant.

Anyway, guys, how about looking like serious, responsible adults instead of giddy cheerleaders this time, huh? Might actually help sway a mind or two *your *way.

Failed? Failed at sucking maybe.

Maybe he really does want Bush back.

Well, I’m sure the thought has crossed Jeb’s mind…

$100 says you’re going to be a sad, sad horsey on Nov. 7. Care to take me up on the wager?

Why?

No bet. Unlike the whackadoodle left on this very board, I generally do not regard a victory by my political opponents to be an Earth-shattering tragedy. If Obama wins, he is likely to pursue certain policies I won’t like, but they are not likely to have much real impact on my daily life. For that matter, if Romney wins, the same theory applies.

Yeah, that’s not really an assumption some of us can make.

Okay, I’ll play. I hope it’s okay that I did mine in Japanese.

Sure it is. POTUS doesn’t have a huge effect on the daily lives of…pretty much anybody we aren’t bombing. Gay rights are a rising tide that no politician is going to be able to stop, and Roe v. Wade is not going to be overturned.

I don’t think we’d have come anywhere close to repealing DADT if McCain were president and none of the current republican candidates would support any SSM legislation. They promise to defund and repeal healthcare reform which is something I already have benefited from. A Republican president would have real negative effects on my quality of life.

Yet you somehow survived 2000-2008, as I have 2008-2012. It’s not that big a deal. Likewise, neither are politics. Political opponents are roughly equivalent to fans of a rival sports team, not demonic entities intent on stealing your soul.

All I know is Bachmann hungers for something.

President Obama seems to be a nice, intelligent man with a fine family, much like Jimmy Carter.

But results matter. Obama is the number one most accountable public employee in the nation, and his job performance sucks.

Words don’t matter, results matter. I am sure that Obama will become a much loved ex-president. Whether that happens next year or 4 years after will not likely change his ultimate assessment.

Like Jimmy Carter, the world market is down on his watch and will not improve until that watch is over. Right or wrong, if he gets re-elected the economic depression will continue until his term ends.

The actual facts would indicate the world market was down in late Summer/early Fall of 2008. Obama took office in January of 2009. He didn’t even win election until November of 2008.

The world markets have actually improved on his watch. All signs indicate this improvement is likely to continue into next year. Overall then I guess your claims here should be given a big ol’ FAIL.

There is a difference. If Obama wins we’ll have a president that will do prudent things to steward the country. If a Republican wins, you’ll have to worry about the debt ceiling being raised. You’ll have to worry about needlessly starting a war with Iran. You’ll have to worry about two or three SCOTUS members being replaced with people who think birth control is a sickness. You’ll have to worry about the elderly having to pay an average of $6000 additional dollars a year for Ryan-Style Medicare. You’ll have to worry about tax policy that makes the rich pay even less than they are today, while the middle class pays even more.

No, there are real differences between the parties. Not the least being that the Republicans are run by people who have a delusional view of how to help the middle class.

Because it’s a small thing you can do here on the Straight Dope to show your support for a particular candidate. If you don’t want to, of course you don’t have to.
