I’m having a devil of a time changing my eBay email address. I got rid of AOL, but I have email addresses on Hotmail and Netzero. I am paying for the Netzero. When I try to change my address, eBay requires me to register a credit card, because those are addresses on “anonymous” sites, which means I could or could not be paying for them (because they offer free addresses).
The thing is I don’t have a credit card, but a debit card. There’s plenty of funds, it’s in good standing, but it won’t clear on eBay. They keep saying there’s something minor with the mailing address, but I"m typing it exactly like my bank has on file. My card works everywhere else online, except for this damn process on eBay.
My question is, is there an ISP that you guys know of that cost around ten bucks a month (like Netzero) that wouldn’t be considered “anonymous”? It seems like Juno and those other ISPs offer free and paid service, and those would be considered an “anonymous” email address, and I’d keep running into this eBay problem.
I’m not really internet savvy, so I need some opinions and help.
Thanks!
Lorie
I think your problem is something else…I have a debit card registered with Ebay and they don’t have a problem with it
Does the bank that issued your debit card have a way to check things on line?
If you have moved anytime since you had that card somewhere on the site there might be your OLD address and that’s bollixing things up for you
I had a similar problem over at Yahoo…I could use my card anywhere EXCEPT at Yahoo…come to find out for some reason my card had my old address…not as my PRIMARY address but it was there and it was enough to screw things up
That’s all I can think of right now…hope it helps
The ebay people asked me that also, Tommy. That’s the only address I’ve ever had on my debit card.
Maybe the address my bank has on file is slightly different in punctuation or capital letters that the address that’s on the bank statement envelopes. Who knows. <sigh>
Thanks, though
The only other thing I’d check offhand is see if your card has your middle initial and you don’t use it at Ebay or the other way around
It has to be EXACTLY the same in both places
I have several cards I use online and I like an idiot sometimes put my middle initial on the card and sometimes didn’t…it used to make for less than entertaining mix-ups when trying to figure why they wouldn’t take my card before I figured THAT one out
