Either that or they realized that Season 1 was the best selling TV show DVD of all time and Season 2 is probalby going to beat that record and they’ve decided that money trumps family values.
Wal-Mart won’t sell CDs with explicit lyrical content, but they have no problem selling R-rated movies with explicit material. I bought my two-disc Fight Club DVD at Wal-Mart, and it wasn’t altered in any way, and I’ve even purchased several R-rated movies with all the profanity, violence, and sex from their $5.50 DVD bin. It’s a double-standard between the music and movies, for sure, but at least they aren’t trying to pass off “clean” re-edits of familiar DVDs to the public.
That’s interesting. Just knowing that they didn’t sell anything that Ned Flanders wouldn’t buy, we went to Target to pick up *Team America: World Police * this weekend.
Although I prefer Target anyway, I had no idea I could have gotten it at Walmart along with our groceries.
But Walmart lost our money due to the fact that they have that reputation to not sell explicit material.
WM has always sold VHS/DVDs like the Sopranos or any of a multitude of R-rated movies for as long as I can remember. I am suprised that anyone thought differently.
I believe Wal-Mart’s position is that they will stock only a censored version of a particular work if that work is available in both censored and non-censored versions.
Since 99% of movies are only released in their original cut, this is not an issue Wal-Mart has to deal with very often. The question here is if Chappelle’s Show is available in a censored version or not. A quick Amazon.com search seems to indicate that the uncensored version is the only one out there. Therefore, it’s the one Wal-Mart will sell.
Still, I’m sure Chappelle Uncensored is making the Baby Sam Walton cry.
I couldn’t find “Bad(der) Santa” at Walmart and then remembered that they don’t sell explicit material. It wasn’t that we couldn’t find it because it was sold out–they didn’t sell it at all.
