Hi, my name is Harmless and I’ve been an addict to chap stick/lip balm for 14 years now.
:waves to support group:
Today I went to Wally-World and stocked up!
I got in Chap Stick: Cherry, Strawberry, Vanilla Mint, and Mint.
In Blistex I bought: Berry Explosion, Triple Tropical, and Melon Medley.
Frankly, I love lip balm and don’t think I’m going to kick the habit anytime soon.
I always like to try the new/different kinds (DON’T go for the Junior Mint flavor IMHO).
So what’s your favorite brand/flavor?
My current favorite is Vanilla Mint, with plain ol’ Mint coming in a close second. If I can’t find either of those, I go for the plainish sunblock kind.
I only use ChapStick brand, though, no Blistex for me!
Plain, sometmies with sunblock. I like the vanilla and cherry, but the Devil’s Garndfather doesn’t. Kisses are better than cherry flavoring, I’ve decided.
I’ve got a great grapefruit lip balm a friend brought back for me from a trip to Australia. I don’t know what I’m going to do when it runs out, but it’s in a little tub that’s lasting forever, so I won’t have to worry about that for a while yet.
Oh, and a lesson I learned the hard way - mint lip balm and beer is a nasty, nasty combination. My only excuse is I’d already had a few when I decided my lips were feeling dry, and mint was what I had with me that evening.
Being a guy, cherry, strawberry and the like are right out. Other people don’t like the smell of the plain (black tube) chapstick either, so I use mint. Haven’t heard of vanilla mint before though. They also make a ‘natural’ chapstick that costs a few cents more, and uses beeswax and aloe and that sort of thing, which is pretty nice if you can find it for sale.
I can only use the real Chapstick brand, and only the plain original (non)flavor. Anything else tastes too good and I lick/eat it off my lips thus defeating the purpose of the Chapstick. If I don’t have Chapstick I lick my lips constantly to keep them moist. I have no self-control.
Tastes of mint, chamomile, and other herbal flavor.
Works wonderfully, too. If I’m going to smear something on my lips, it’s gonna be Burt’s Bees.
(Aside: I first found this stuff in Basic Training. I got tasked to do some zero-week flight’s laundry. A small can of this made it through the dryer  It was completely liquid from the dryer heat, but fortunately the can didn’t open. I kept it so it wouldn’t get laundered again.)
Here’s another vote for Burt’s. Note: some people don’t like the waxy feel. That’s my favorite part, aside from the neat minty tingle.
There are these cocoa butter stick things that my mom swears by, and they are pretty good too, but no neat minty tingle. Oh well. Those do one amazing thing: if you have a cold or something and have been wiping your nose so much it’s sore, put a bunch of it on your nose at night and in the morning, no more sore nose. It’s unreal.
Yeah, baby, I love the Burt’s Bees lip balm. I love that pepperminty tingle.
I’m a lip balm addict, too, and have various brands stashed all over, in coat pockets and my purse and my car. Chapstick (cherry), Blistex (melon and berry) and some other brands (cherry, vanilla, almond, and others). I’ve got a real Lip Balm Monkey on my back.
If I’m going to buy Chapstick brand, I only buy the plain non-flavored kind.
I really prefer DCT in the tub, but I haven’t been able to find it here. I do occasionally buy Burt’s Bees, and I like it - it’s just a matter of remembering that I need to buy it when I happen to be in a store that sells it. Most of the time, I don’t remember so I end up popping into someplace for a tube of Chapstick.
I just bought those Blistex flavors the other day. Melon Medley is my favorite, but they all seem to wear off quickly. So if you’re going out you’ll want to bring it. Cherry Chapstick is a classic, I always have at least 3 around.
Chapstick plain, non flavor, whatever. Cherry on occasion. I like softlips too, it makes my lips tingle, but it doesn’t seem to work as well on me.
Am I the only one who uses chapstick on places besides their lips? The skin on my face dries out easily, and smearing a little chapstick on it keeps it from cracking. And it doesn’t feel funky to me, like lotion does.
Intent, try Nivea products for your face. My skin is very dry also. Their face and body lotions seem to be the only products out there that help. Q10 plus wrinkle control for the face-wrinkles or not, it makes the skin feel great and isn’t greasy.
