Arnold George Dorsey willingly chose the name Engelbert Humperdinck.
Wowbagger the infinitely Prolonged is one of my fave characters, so much so that I named my cat Wowbagger. It’s from Douglas Adams’ “Life, the Universe and Everything”.

He named himself after the German composer who wrote the opera Hansel and Gretel.

Professor Unrat from the Heinrich Mann novel of the same name, the source for the movie “Der blaue Engel” (The Blue Angel), one of the most famous German movies with Emil Jannings as Unrat and Marlene Dietrich as Lola in her breakthrough role. “Unrat” is the polite word for “garbage” or “filth”.
I also like Gregor Samsa, the protagonist from Franz Kafka’s “Die Verwandlung” (The Metamorphosis). It has a nice ring.
