I feel like maybe I remember this was implied to have happened in Primer. Or maybe directly shown? I forget. I need to watch that one again.
A book rather than a movie, hope that’s OK:
In Cory Doctorow’s Down and out in the Magic Kingdom, people make regular backup copies of their brain and replacement bodies are basically free, so some people will have themselves killed and resurrected for something as minor as to get rid of a cold. The main plot revolves around the main character being murdered (a fairly minor crime, since dying is just a minor inconvenience in most cases) and having to find out whodunnit. It turns out that his killer committed suicide immediately after the murder, so that she would be restored from a backup which did not have any memories of committing it.
