Is anybody reading the Merchant Princes series? My husband and I are enjoying them–sort of a fantasy/sf/alternate history/cop mix (not at all what I was expecting when I picked up the first one). I just finished The Merchants’ War a couple of days ago, and was wondering, in the bit with Huw and his friends exploring the new world (World 4?):
what was the flash of light when they broke the seal over the vacuum, and why did it it say that they were saved because they were turned away from it?
I also thought it was weird that it was going on about Huw’s nose hair and then said that he had neglected his manicure. Not sure what a manicure has to do with nose hair.
