Charlie Crist (D) v. Rick Scott (R) (Inc) FL Governor's Race

The way federal spending is, it’s always the red states first when there are cuts.

As it should be.

You should also support eliminating the tax free status of state and municipal bonds. THis allows them to borrow at artificially low rates. Plus, the rich primarily benefit from these bonds, so you kill two birds with one stone.

So long as the capital gains and carried interest rate is abolished at the same time, I’m all for it.

Even for lower income taxpayers, who currently pay a 0% long term capital gains rate?

BTW, that was a nice little underpublicized change that really helps lower and middle income investors to encourage them to start socking money away. Qualified dividends are 0% as well if you’re in the 15% tax bracket or lower.

Perhaps this discussion of Federal tax policy and infrastructure spending might be better in another thread, hmmm?

Its one thing to have extreme views as long as you are up front and clear about them, that way if you get elected, the people get what they wanted. What makes Scott and Cuccinelli repulsive in my book is not the extremity of their views but their attempts to deprive voters of ballot access in order tilt the playing field to their advantage so that they can impose their extreme views even though the people didn’t actually get what they wanted.

Let’s be fair, its not just them who are doing it, voter denial has been the GOP strategy ever since they realized most of their typical demographics are dying off. Some are just better than others at it.
