John Oliver has been talking about Charlie Rose’s creepiness for a while…which actually surprised me as I watched the clips when they were new, but after having seen them I was then not surprised by the allegations.
It WAS weird to hear his CBS co-hosts go on about it this morning (in the clips I heard on the radio), because in all of the clips Oliver had shown, the women were gleefully playing along - or rather, mostly instigating.
Yeah they happily played the roles of coquettish younger women leading Rose, an incorrigible but mostly harmless dirty old man, around by the dick so he could amuse the audience with his predictable responses. It only became a problem to them now that this longstanding routine would threaten the show’s ratings and lose advertisers.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely! All it takes is money and power, makes the money and power person feel self entitled and the other person that was “assaulted” trying to get some of that power and money.
Everyone else associated jumps on the band wagon.
IMO practically every woman in the “world” has had some sort of approach, good or bad, by men. Sometimes the woman feels as if its a positive thing, makes them feel desirable until they realize it was not at all a good thing or they can make something about it being brought to light
I’m not saying this is the majority, I’m just putting in my two cents. I just dont believe that, that many women can be involved as they jump on the bandwagon with the others.
This stuff has been against the “rules of life” for a long time and just now the world is talking about doing something about it?? All over the talk shows, all women panels, what about the man’s POV? Shouldn’t they be allowed to make their stand?
What can they do to prevent assaults of any kind? Especially by talking about it?
You said it, just like all the overplayed news/violence of the world. Will it get worse?
My best friend in high school and I were confronted by a flasher, sorry it was no big thing. If someone had groped me, I slap him in the face if I didnt want it done. Its my retribution, why should I go further?
Raping somewhat is different, you dont want to happen again but groping? Somewhat as important but…

I direct you to the post I replied to and quoted. We’re talking about CBS and his co-hosts, not his real life activities. The roles they played were dirty old man and two coquettish flirts. It goes without saying his real life harassment was not harmless.
Holy hell, just the list of 60s/70s/80s-era rock stars who slept with underaged groupies must be a mile long.
It’s all well and good that Rose lost his job at CBS and PBS stopped distributing his programs. But what happens to his employees at his company? There is no board or co-owners to force him to step aside so they are stuck with him and his lecherous ways unless they all decide to quit. Several were profiled in that press story about him but who’s actually helping them?
The company’s profitability may not survive his fall from grace, thus mooting the matter.
And he was so handsome!
