You are the next contestant on the grope is wrong!
Moving from Elections to MPSIMS.

My mother loves his show. She’ll be heartbroken.
I guess he is one of the high class creeps.
Sigh…
I’m all out of outrage for the moment. Let me rest up and I’ll rejoin you folks with the next guy that gets outed for inappropriate behavior with women.
This pattern of outing offensive guys may go on for years.
Say it ain’t so.
In the thread about who you would be surprised about having allegations come out Charlie Rose would have been my pick if I had thought about him. Goes to show you that public persona does not necessarily indicate ones true self.
The allegations against him are pretty heinous with multiple accusers over many years. It appears very likely that it is all true.
Well, every Rose has it’s thorns.
Fuck me.
First Franken, now Rose. I am rapidly running out of people I admire. Richard Feynman is dead, but I guess it’s not too late for something to come out about him.
Jeffrey Tambor was also accused of sexual misconduct, and as a result, will be leaving the Amazon show on which he stars.
Turns out power corrupts, and exploiting it can seem irresistible. If only we’d known this before now!
I am disappointed, as I like his show and him as a host. But it doesn’t make him immune to human frailties, no one is safe.
This seems to be a time of reckoning, there must be a whole lot of very nervous men in Hollywood these days, dontcha think? When there are open secrets like Harvey Weinstein, operating for years, perhaps it encourages those shy to act, that it’s not really so bad to do a little groping.
Sooner or later though, this shit catches up to you. I’m glad to see it, they should all, every last one, be driven out into the light of day!
It is never too late for something to come out about anyone. I’m beginning to get a bit numb about it.
Charlie Rose is a big arrogant narcissistic douchebag who thinks he is smarter than he really is. Can’t you tell from his pathetic and phony behavior on his show? I couldn’t be less disappointed.
I’m sorry to be the one to tell you about Richard Feynman.
I don’t much watch the show, but I’ve seen him a few times on the CBS Morning show and he’s said a few things that were not exactly appropriate. Of course some of the women have too. But it doesn’t surprise me about him at all really.
I’ve only seen him on his PBS show.
I read the WaPo article and it’s just gut-twistingly bad. We’re not talking about a guy who made crude sexual jokes in the office; we’re talking about a guy who took in up-and-coming female journalists/producers and calculated how to use his power to get sexual gratification. If the accounts are to be believed - and I have no reason to doubt them - a few of them come close to being outright sexual assault. He didn’t stop there, either – he humiliated, fired, and tried to end the careers of some of these women. Just a disgusting son of a bitch.
I read his autobiographical books, but over 20 years ago, so my memory is sketchy. I do recall the part about his technique (basically, acting like an asshole) for picking up women in a bar, but my impression was that it was the kind of bar where women go to be picked up, and my conclusion was that I wouldn’t want to be with a woman who would be receptive to that technique. Again with the caveat that it’s been a couple of decades, I thought it was all consensual conduct between adults of approximately the same age.
Having lied about my age to women myself (pretending to be older than 16), I would need to know more about his pretending to be an undergrad. If it was shortly after the war, when he was in his late 20’s or early 30’s, and many undergrads were also in their late 20’s because the war interrupted their education, no big deal. I think I remember in one of his books where he said that he started concealing the fact that he was a big shot physicist who had worked on the bomb, because women all assumed it was a line.
Of course there is no excuse for targeting anyone’s wife, and it’s especially despicable if they were the wives of grad students who were in any way dependent on his evaluation of them. I had never heard or read anything about this before now. Guess I picked the wrong week to give up meth.
I’ve only seen him on 60 Minutes but he definitely gives off a creepy old man vibe. I am not surprised by this news at all.
