Charter Member rules

I put this here because it’s got a definite factual answer, but if it needs to go in ATMB someone can feel free to move it. Plus, that forum strikes me as the place where questions go to die.

Anyway, I posted in this thread , but people either didn’t know or were too busy with the discussion, and my insatiable curiosity has not yet been slaked. How does someone with a join date in '06 have charter member status? Some fishy mod dealings going on here.

I figure it’s something like photographic evidence surfacing of a mod getting soused at the SDMB xmas party and sleeping with the copy machine in the secretary room. Or maybe evidence that one of the mods was dealing cites from the back door… that later turned out to be bad and consequently a poster was beaten to death by a hungry, angry, and all other manner of gry mob of librarians who weren’t happy about being slipped bad 3rd hand cites. Then someone wanted revenge for the beaten poster. And many other situations, each more plausible than the one before it.

Moving this to ATMB, although I DO understand your concern with threads dying in that forum. But, you do tend to get answers there from people in the know, while all you’re gonna get in GQ are guesses. Maybe.

I, too, don’t understand this. But, perhaps we can figure it out. Stay tuned.

And, I’ve searched for an answer. Found it.

This one is closed. In GENERAL TERMS, the poster was a member since the beginning, but for privacy reasons, has a new name. Witness protection program. Well, not really, but kinda.

If you need more info, you can email me. NOt that I’ll tell you anything specific. Not much more than I’ve posted here.
