I hope this is not considered inappropriate use of the Boards.
I got a new computer a while back, and it came with a DVD burner (DVD+R). Now, when it comes to blank media, i usually purchase name brands, because i’ve have too many no-name labels mess up on me before.
When i only had a CD burner, i found that blank Sony CDs served my purpose well, so i stuck with them. When i got my DVD burner, i figured that i’d stick with Sony, as i’ve never had a single Sony disc fail during the writing process. The DVDs didn’t let me down either.
The only trouble with name brands is that they are a bit more expensive. I bought some Sony DVD+R discs from Staples, and paid 39.99 for a spindle of 25, while no-name brands were about half that. Staples now has the same product for $34.98. Better, but still not cheap.
Yesterday, while my partner was buying something in another store, i wandered into CompUSA and saw exactly the same thing for $14.99. Cooool! So i picked up three spindles, which should keep me going for a while. And i just wanted to give my fellow Dopers a heads-up.
The CompUSA deal can be had in-store, or online but, IIRC from the notice in the store, this special only lasts another few days (DVD-Rs are available for the same price).
Note: I have no connection at all with Sony or CompUSA, and i think i’ve been on these Boards long enough for it to be clear that i’m not a corporate shill. I just thought that this was a pretty great price for brand-name blank DVDs. If this post is inappropriate, i’m sure a mod will delete it in due course.
