So how can I go to Georgia for 2 weeks without going bankrupt? This is a horribly geeky confession, but I found my dream vacation: 2 weeks studying Georgian polyphonic singing with a folk ensemble in a small Georgian monastery town, next October. The program itself isn’t hideously expensive, but getting there may cost double what the actual program does.
So what’s the best way to get from Chicago to Tbilisi without breaking the bank, and preferably without flying any truly terrifying airlines? Suggested routes? (Chicago-Moscow-Tbilisi or maybe Chicago-Istanbul-Tbilisi seem the most logical, but I’m open to suggestions.) Where’s the best place to go for cheap tickets? The best I’m finding so far on Orbitz is around $1400, which seems expensive for that time of year.
