Travelocity had some stuff going from Detroit to Amsterdam for about $300. There might be a city closer to you offering the same prices or cheaper. From Amsterdam, you’re only a couple hours from Aachen.
Hit a lot of sites and sign up for their fare watch e:mails.
– Studentuniverse, if you’re a university student or faculty member.
– STA Travel (which also specializes in student tickets, but offers some good regular fares as well). Make sure you talk to a human travel agent, however, rather than trying to use their (frustrating) web site.
In general, you should get as many quotes as you can, and don’t forget to check fares for different dates and cities if your plans are somewhat flexible.
i have to leave from nashville, tn. there isn’t really a way for me to go to any other airport unless i keep my car in long term parking. and i know that after flying for many hours it’s probably not a good idea for me to drive. frankfurt is the most ideal place to fly into. my family lives there and i’m staying with them. if i flew into any other place i’d have to tack on travel by train to get there or compensation of gas money to my family.
any one have any idea on whether i should wait a little while longer before i purchase a ticket?
i’ve tried orbitz and priceline and hotwire and travelocity. i tried the sta travel. everything is just too much. cheapest i’ve found is about 650. i know that may is the beginning of the peak season, but that still seems a little too outragious for a one week vacation.
